I heard today that the oil fill tube is almost horizonal and to fill up with 19 quarts would take forever for the oil to flow into the oil sump. Is this true, how long does it take to pour in 19 qts? I had mentioned that I was going to change my own oil this weekend when I was told that. Thanks.

On my coach I use a funnel with about a 1/2 inch hole. The fill tube on the coach takes the oil faster than the funnel. I can pour a gallon container of oil in about 2 to 3 minutes.

On my C-7 Journey, it takes a long time to put in the 19 quarts of oil. It takes longer to put the oil in then it does to perform the rest of the oil change. If you were in a hot environment, it might go faster.

I have been performing mine when the outside temperature was in the low 50 degrees. Left the oil in the house to stay warmer, but still took close to an hour or more to get all the oil in. I have purchased a small drill powered pump and tubing to try to get the tubing past the horizontal portion of the dispstick tube and then using the drill pump will try to speed things up next time. I'll post how well it works sometime this fall when I change things again.

Using a large funnel with a flexible hose and about a 2-3 inch tip that reaches into the filler tube (from Wal Mart) it probably took me about 10-15 minutes to pour in 19 quarts last month. I think it goes down the tube as fast as it can go out the funnel.
