I had my dash lights and gauges go crazy on a trip a couple of years ago. It turned out to be one of the many grounds under the dash cowling. It all started with the cruise control shutting off. My grounds were under the dash cowling low on the steering column mounts. I removed the bolts, cleaned the threads and mount, re-installed, problem went away. The freightliner help desk can email you the wiring schematic. I found mine online. They will talk you through it, too. These folks are great.

I had my dash do the flashing lights reset thing three times over a period of 6 months. About two weeks ago it started to do it again but this time it never came back on. No gas gauge, no speedometer, etc. The cruise control no longer worked and the exhaust brake stopped working also.
I was kind of relieved because those intermittent problems never seem to get fixed but now it was undeniable. Took it to Freightliner and they told me that the connection to the module had come loose. They plugged it back in and we are good to go.

Had the same issue with the dash gauges going out while cruising about 65-68 mph on the freeway, though the engine never missed a beat. A few seconds later all the instrumentation lights blink as though rebooting, then everything returned to normal and dash gauges spun back up to normal readings. We had about 2,500 miles and four months old since bought new when we had that one occurrence. We have a 2014 Itasca Ellipse, Cummins ISL 8.9L 450hp, Allison 3000 MH 6-speed, and a Frieghtliner Maxum Chassis.

dash out
we have had out 2014 dutchstar since July and just last week while doing 60 with cruise on the same thing happened. Pulled off road and called newmar who contacted freightliner for me. tech called with 10 min and by that time we had turned rv back on and the "reset" occurred. Tech asked if we had run thru any rain water , told him no. Said it might be a loosed connection or might be just the "computer working out a glitch form a command", said if it happens again take into dealer andhe would put notes in my file for them to check certain things.. Seems like they have had this issue before . We drove another two hundred miles with no problem. getting ready sat to leave Tybee island to head to the Mrytle beach rally. Hope I see you there !!

Are those gauges made by Actia? Workhorse used those and they do the same thing.
After reading this post yesterday we left on a trip this morning and mine did it's flashing, ringing, gauges pegged, trick after 20 minutes on the road. Hasn't done it in over a year.
Doesn't bother me any more as it clears itself after about 30 seconds. I'm on my third gauge set and have given up on solving the problem.

I had this same thing happen on my Newmar Kountry Star 2004, 300 hp cummins, unsure of the Freightliner Chassis designation, 3 days ago, the backlighting came back on after 200 minutes..
