Digital Dash Bubbles

Has anyone else had their dash start to get "bubbles" along the bottom? I wonder what causes it and what it cost to replace it? thanks.

I am seeing them along the edges of the screen... So far they are not interfering with the gauge views when everything is "lit up". Basically the layers of the screen are delaminating. I had this happen to the screen in my wife's Grand Cherokee, where it was replaced under warranty.

From what I've heard, this is not a warranty item and its costly to replace the screen... I have not verified this myself though.

We have a 2021 Discovery XLE 40 M and noticed this summer (July 2023)that the top edge of the screen had the beginnings a grey line. By September the grey area expanded across the top of the screen and got thicker. We just took the coach in for yearly service at Freightliner and they said the solution was to replace the ICU screen $5,700.The screen is made by Medallion Instrumentation Systems. When I called them they said there is a 1 year warranty to the original owner, which they say is actually Daimler since they sell the product to Daimler. Interestingly enough we have an acquaintance who has the same coach as us, even built during the same month and his ICU is also starting to delaminate, for lack of a better description.

We have a 2020 Tiffin Allegro Red and I noticed the dashboard had bubbles in the bottom right corner, there is also a small area at the top right side that has a small air bubble that travels across the top of the dash. Its about 3 inches long.Called Freightliner and they told me the same.Only warranty for one year.Iteresting that there are more people out there with this issue and they will not back up there customers. My next move is to contact Tiffin and see if they will do anything for me.The coach has 46,000 KLMs on it.

Bubbling on Freightliner Dash

We have a 2019 DutchStar and are having the same bubbling issue at the bottom of the dash. We are sitting at Freightliner's service center in Gaffney as I write this and they have told us that, because we are no longer covered by warranty, we would have to pay to replace it.

I had a discussion with the service manager at Freightliner in Gaffney. I was told that Daimler, Freightliner's parent company was having discussion with Medallion, the manufacturer of the dash, regarding solutions to the issue. Apparently, they aren't sure what causes it and it doesn't happen to all of the dashes.

I can understand that. I have an Acer tablet that has a permanent home in my bedroom because I upgraded back around 2016. I mentioned the permanent home to say that the tablet has been in a temperature stable environment for the last 7 or 8 years. Anyway, sometime around 2019-2020, it developed a small bubble in the upper right-hand corner. Today, that bubble now looks like a curtain across the top and down the sides of a theater stage. I know my tablet is a far ways from a RV glass/digital dash, but I am only agreeing that screen delamination can be a serious eyesore. The small diamonds above my sticker at the bottom center of the screen also started appearing around the same time. (Other than the sight of it, my tablet screen still displays and functions fine).

Freightliner digital display bubbles info

MFR: MEDALLION

PN: 6913 00561 01 for Freightliner

Known issue.

You can mail in your display and medallion will refurbish or you can buy a DIY kit and do it yourself. 1/3 year mail in $1700 /$1950. DIY $1500

Go to https://www.mtcscreens.com/products/...43334022627385

My display was easy to remove 5 screws for the cluster assy, 2 screws for the display. Ethernet CAT5 connection. I planning on the mail in option with the 1 year warranty. I figure my display lasted almost 4.5 years so the display would be out of warranty anyways if I choose the 3 year.

Brand new unit is around $5000.

Thanks so much for posting the information about MTC Screens... Even though this should not happen, unfortunately, it does...

Like I mentioned earlier on in this thread, my delam hasn't gotten to the point where it bothers me... yet, but I would certainly reach out to these guys for their solution... Even after watching the video for the DIY version, I would 100% use that option...

Display Bubbles

We the owners need to write emails and letters to the RV manufactures documenting this issue. There is strength in numbers and if we overwhelm them, they will hopefully contact FL. Who will hopefully make inquiries to Medallion for a solution.

After Tiffin CS blew me off, I emailed the president (leigh.tiffin@tiffinmotorhomes.com) directly only then did I get a response from the chassis dept and others.

Anyone filing a complaint with the NTSB? Seems that this would be a safety issue re ability to read instrumentation.
