DTNA Service Bulletin 49-7 DEF Gauge stuck

I'm still exploring the DTNA website (formerly access freightliner) and found Technical Literature-Bulletin #49-7

"DEF Gauge Reading Incorrectly 49-7

General Information

When a vehicle equipped with a diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) system sits for an extended period of time, the DEF in the tank may crystallize around the float on the DEF level sending-unit tube and require cleaning. This crystallization may cause the float to stick on the tube. See Fig. 1. If the DEF level indicator displays an incorrect level reading, complete the procedure below.

Warranty

This procedure is warrantable only if the described condition exists and the repair is performed within the applicable base or extended coverage warranty period. If a failure is not found, this procedure is considered preventive and warranty does not apply. Normal warranty applies."

My goal in posting this is to say who would think that a stuck gauge due to extended 'sitting' would be a warrantable event?

And then to ask- How could anyone expect to stumble on these sort of bulletins?

Do you have a copy of the cleaning procedure? A reference to it would be fine.

Yes, let's go with a reference to the whole kit-n-kaboodle. There are long winded Copyright restrictions on that website.

If you don't already have an account with DTNA (formerly access freightliner) go here:

https://dtnacontent-dtna.prd.freight...rica.html.html

It will take a little time, not much in my case, to sign you up and send you e-mails with user id and password to sign in.

OK. Thanks for the info, but since I don't have a Freightliner chassis, it won't work for me. I was looking for the info to see if it might be compatible with my Powerglide chassis. They both mount Cummins engines and I doubt the DEF system basic parts are that different. The DEF system for a Cummins engine may actually have many common parts regardless which chassis it's mounted on. Thanks for the effort. I'll talk to my local Cummins ISL service guys and see what they have to say.

Some of the data is not too complicated to recall parts of it. For Dielectric sprays use red enamel 3M 1602 IVI. For brush on use Glyptal 1201E.

For Dielectric grease lithium based use Fiske Brothers Lupriplate DS-ES. For synthetic use Nye Nyogel 760G.

Red enamel goes on starter, alternator, ground connections, and battery connections outside the battery box. This part is easy, I can look at mine and see what is still red! For example, almost the entire area around my air cleaner and engine battery compartment is red.

The lithium dielectric grease is used on non-LED tail lamp sockets, battery terminals, Inverter power connections and 7-way cable boots.

The synthetic dielectric grease is used in low voltage serial connection data circuits

The general instructions include using masking tape to protect printed labels when using spray and disconnecting then cleaning before applying dielectric.

Oops, I regret the right answer to the wrong question.
