Just recieved this from Good Sam Club.
Freightliner is recalling 10,053 model year 2005-2006 XC motorhome chassis built using inline power steering filters. The filter can plug due to failure of the screen adhesion to the filter housing causing a rise in return line pressure. This can lead to hose separation from the filter or steering gear fitting resulting in a sudden loss of steering fluid and power assist. Sudden loss of steering assist without warning involving a motorhome could be a problem for certain drivers increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the affected filters with a larger filter.
Owners may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Vehicle Safety Hotline at (888) 327- 4236 or visit www.safercar.gov for more information.

Gary,
I had seen that too. Is there a list of VIN#'s or chassis #'s affected? Haven't seen that yet.

I spoke too soon. I've now been informed there is a recall on my MH. FL517A is the Freightliner recall campaign number. Here is a link to the NHTSA Campaign, with an explanation of what the recall is all about FL517A

Got my recall notice in the mail yesterday. Will call Gaffney tomorrow. I'm going to be one unhappy camper if they didn't fix this during my M-3 service in Gaffney the 16th of June. They are supposed to check for recalls on units in for servicing. I'm sure they were aware of it then.

For use as a rough reference point, my XC chassis was manufactured in September of 2006 and it falls beyond the group recalled according to Freightliner. I do not know if there were any differences as to whether engine configuration is involved. Mine has the ISB. I know the gentleman from Buffalo who has a similar period MH with the Cat engine experienced the PS filter failure early on.

We wont be home for another month to see if I got a recall. Can FLCC be contacted with a chassis # to verify a recall?

Steve, if you have Freightliner's Access you can check online. That's how I found out.
