Freightliner XC VIN number location

I am trying to find the part number for the canister style air filter on my 07 Fleetwood Excursion (Cat C7 350hp). When I call Freightliner they ask for the Freighliner VIN which apparantly is different from the VIN number that is used by DMV etc. because when I provide that number Freighliner does not recognize it as a valid number. So:

1. Where is the Freightliner VIN located in the coach
2. Does anyone know the part number of the filter off hand?

Thanks in advance for the helpful responses.

On my D the Vin is on a sticker on the wall beside the drivers seat and also on a sticker in the clothes closet.

This may be the filter you need.

Freightliner's VIN is the same as the the chassis VIN......one place it's located is inside on the top of the dash, driver side, left side very close to the lower left windshield. Maybe your DMV VIN is copied wrong! Rook

On my 07 Excursion the VIN is on a sticker attached to the wall just behind the driver's seat, and there is also one attached via rivits to the left side of the drivers dash that you can see looking in from the outside, or if you are tall enough, should be able to lean over the steering wheel and get a peek at.

All my contacts with FL, what they are looking for is the last 6 digits of the whole VIN. I just finished installing some cable underneath my 40' and the VIN is written EVERYWHERE under there, and it's always the same 6 digits.

There is only one VIN, so either the one on your title was copied wrong or the dealer gave you the wrong paperwork for your coach. It has happened before!

The motorhome manufacturer is supposed to put a sticker in a readily observable place, but the place can vary a lot. Mine isn't in any of the places mentioned above - had to look on the frame to verify title is correct. Freightliner stamped it in several places on the frame. A call to their Customer Help line would probably pinpoint where to look on the chassis.

If the VIN on your vehicle title isn't correct, start working on getting it fixed NOW!. It can take months to track down where the error was made and get the necessary documents to make a legal change. This is important!

look at the right side of the radiator support, there will be at least two metal tags attached with the full vin
f/l has always for me used the last 6 when i call for info

i will 2nd the dealer ot dmv copying the wrong vin...
we got a call from our state folks asking us to verify it because the 5 should have been listed as an 8

That's about the easiest place to look.

On another thread about VINs it was stated that a motor home manufacturer could use the VIN of the chassis or create another VIN for the motor home. Perhaps a call to Fleetwood would reveal something. You could ask what the chassis VIN is.
