I have a 2004 Gorgie Boy and I noticed that the turn signals are not working with the motor running or off. I can turn on the hazards and all four turn signals seem to work although the do seem to flash a bit fast.

I have no clue where the fuse is or the location of the flasher. I have looked at the wiring diagrams in the owners manual and did not see any indication of wiring for the lights or turn signals. I looked in the freightliner owners manual and there was not anything there also.

I looked under the drivers side dash, but did not see anything as well as on the out side of the firewall. I looked in the breaker box at the back and did not see anything there also. Can someone point me in the right direction?

‘02 GB Landau here - Workhorse chassis -

Turn signal fuses will be a part of the chassis wiring, not the coach. On ours, there IS a fuse block inside the coach against the firewall just to the left of the steering wheel. Easily accessed through the driver door.
There IS also another fuse block in the engine bay.

Download the Workhorse manuals and you will find all the needed electrical information.

I found the fuses in the back where the inverter is on the passenger side. Pulled the fuses for the right and left and they appear to be good.

I can hear the hazard flasher clicking under the dash, but have been unable to find it. I assume that the normal flasher should be around the same place? It is a jumbled up mess under there and there is a lot of wire ties holding the wiring harnesses up off the floor I hate the idea of having to start snipping the wire tires and pulling wiring harnesses around so I can see. It is almost impossible to access as you have to lay on the floor between the drivers seat and console.

On ours there is a surround panel with 4 or 6 screws in it just above where the steering column goes into the dash. You could remove that if your has one.

But I also found better access by removing screws out of the full panel that holds the speedometer/gauge/tach and all the switches and b/u monitor. The Workhorse chassis has its flashers mounted to the steering column and better accessed from the top.

Gave up and took the RV to a local RV service center and they spent a couple of hours looking at this and gave up. One of the things they tried was to replace the turn signal switch on the steering column which did not resolve the issue. and they also were unable to locate the turn signal flasher, although I don't think they tried very hard. Brought the RV home and was a bit frustrated.

Well, finally found my flashers after poking around under the dash. Both the regular flashers and the emergency flasher were located together. They were not located on the steering column, but at the center of the firewall under the dash behind all the other wiring. Had to take out part of the console from the passenger side under the dash and got lucky and found them.

The turn signals now are working, but the bad thing is that I have no idea on what the issue was as they just started to work. All I can think is that there must of been a loose connection someplace. I am happy that they are working, but not happy as I have no clue why and hate it when things work out that way.

I also realized that the emergency flashers were flashing at a high rate of speed and plugged the turn signal flasher in place of the emergency flasher and they blinked at a normal rate and bought a replacement that I need to put in.

Side Note: I called Freightliner and they emailed me the correct year of the wiring schematic for the Chassis. It was kind of useful and interesting to figure out how everything was wired together. I took it down to my local print shop and had large copies made as my eyes are not as good as they once were.

I appreciate the advice and maybe see everyone on the road someday.

Be sure to treat the wiring schematics like gold .
Freightliner is slowly phasing out support of their older chassis .

The Freightliner wiring harness is kind of generic , in that it'll fit chassis of different lengths and coach builders have extra wiring to tuck around and move out of the way , but why they decide to hide/cover up maintenance items is beyond me.

Had a friend with a large printer and printed them off then rolled them up and placed them into a paper tube and stashed it in an overhead. Hopefully won't need to use them again.
