Replaced my VDC today and got a surprise

Last year I tried to do the VDC cold solder repair. It worked for a little while but then started failing again. I ordered a new one from Freightliner and installed it today. All is well so far. Something else happened when I installed it. The original owner replaced the ECM under warranty in year one or 2. As a result of that, the MH mileage was reset to zero. So the coach always showed the mileage to be approx 15K less than it actually has. The ECM was replaced at 15k. Well today when I installed the new VDU the mileage now reads the accurate mileage. I'm actually happy about this but it's a little perplexing. Anyone understand how this happened?

Did Freightliner ask you for a mileage when you ordered the VCU ?

Does the VDU just snap into the instrument panel, or is it held in with fasteners from the back side.... so the instrument panel has to be removed from the dash assembly to remove the VDU?

Did I say that right.....

Most are mounted in the engine compartment area. On mine I was fortunate and it's mounted in a electrical storage bin so easily accessible.

If you don’t mind why did you have to replace it? Thank you

Getting low air alerts with associated buzzer, lights and gauge going to zero. Alerts were erroneous. Systems were functioning normal.

You sure your display doesnt have some burned out pixels and it just rolled over onto something that you can "See"?

Yep. These are analog gauges. Everything now works like it's supposed to.
