I previously had a 2008 Winnebago with a 6.7 Cummins on a Freightliner chassis that we changed the belt on. Not saying one person couldn’t do it but we found a second set of hands was necessary. One thing I would recommend is the fan hub and blade is mounted to a cast support that is held on by 4-8mm 8.9 bolts. While you are in there and have the belt off replace them. I used 10.9 bolts with new washers. These bolts broke on me on a trip out west and it cost me $2200.00 to get it towed in and repaired. The radiator had to be removed to drill the broken bolts out. Quite a process over four small bolts. Highly recommend replacing these bolts during a belt replacement. Easily done one at a time if they are not broken.

Going to inspect to see how to change serp belt on 2008 freightliner ISB 6.7 , c/w Horton fan clutch. The bracket that holds the sensor from the engine block to the fan clutch has a bolt in the middle that has to be removed. Electrical connection has to be removed. This will allow the belt to be placed between the bracket and the serp pulley. Going to see if access to this bolt can be gained via rear closet.

Keep you all posted

Yes....it can. Do yourself a favor though....and put an old sheet or other bulky material under the fan area so that when you drop the bolt and/or the tools used to get the bolt apart...you can retrieve them easily.

My Model is a Discovery 40x. The bolt that holds the guide bracket for the clutch fan has to be removed to slide the belt between the fan serp pully and the air pump.
Yes the air cleaner has to be removed.
You then crawl in like a worm and try and disconnect the plug for the clutch sensor, with 1 hand.
If my arms were 12" longer I could reach from the bedroom closet once the access hatch is opened.
A long 3/8 extension will be an asset.
A long box end wrench to get on the nut from the top.

Have fun

I had a 2008 Winnebago Journey with the 6.7 and rear radiator and yes I changed the belt. It may of been possible for one person but you would struggle for a really long time. Much easier with someone on top from the bedroom hatch and the other under the coach. I may have posted on your thread about this already but while you have the belt off do yourself a favor and replace the 4 bolts that hold the fan support on. They are 8mm 8.8 bolts about an 1-1/2” long or so. My recommendation is to replace with 8mm 10.9 bolts, these are a much stronger bolt. Mine broke on a trip out west about ten miles east of Amarillo TX. Cost me $2200 labor and a tow truck, I furnished the bolts they were just a few bucks. Cheap insurance. You have to pull the radiator to get the bolts out once they are broke off.

Well Mervman, if there is an easy way , let me know. There is no access from the bottom as a result from the frame cross member. From the top only have 1.5 " between the coach build out and the support bracket that holds the fan shroud. My arms are a little thicker than 1.5 inches .
Once the air filter has been removed from the drivers side of the coach , that is when you become a worm and try and wiggle in to remove bolt and unplug sensor wire.

From the passenger side you can get in and see the nut and bolt and with an extension,
maybe get on one end to be able to remove nut and bolt.

If you do not have a clutch fan and only have a 1 belt system on a 6.7 ISBXT this process would easier.

Safe travels

Saved my old belt with 40,000 miles and it looks great, but its 12 years old. Preventative maintenance beats being stuck on the side of the road any day.

Had mine done last year, they struggled with it with the coach on a lift. I save the old belt but doubt I could change it on the side of the road.

3. Release the belt tension via the belt tensioner. 1/2 drive ratchet. Below access
4.You can now remove the old belt.
5.You will notice that the belt is between the engine serp pully and the Horton sensor bracket.
6.You will have to slide the belt over top of the fan blade.
7. Position belt on crank pulley.
8.Position belt on fan blade pulley
9.Ensure belt is between fan blade pulley and sensor arm.
6.Re install try wraps and bolt for sensor arm.
7.Flat side of belt goes around water pump.
8.Rib side of belt goes around alternator
9.Rib side of belt goes around air unit.
10.Apply tension to belt tension unit.
11.Flat side of belt is on belt tension unit from crank pulley.

This install is for an 2008 Fleetwood XC, ISB 6.7. Complete with a Horton fan clutch

Get a picture of belt route from Freightliner!!!!!!

Sounds like my ISL, this is good information for future reference.
