Where Can I Order Parts?
Hi Folks:
I brought my Freightliner DP to the dealer for a sticker and they failed me for worn out sway bar rubbers - Seriously? So I asked them how much to change out the links and bushings. They said $275. I had them slap a rejection sticker on the vehicle and I told them I'd do the job myself. They didn't have the parts in stock anyways so I left.
I want to buy the parts on line any suggestions?

failed safety inspection DRAG link
Just before leaving Jersey for Florida
we stopped in a shop to get the safety inspection. they failed the 99 chieftain for a cluck in the drag link. they said there were no parts available. I check for a part number with gaffney and found the drag link made by TRW would have about a 90 day wait even with a special order plus a cost of $300
when I got down to Florida and crawled around found the castle nut at the end of the drag link was only finger tight. assuming no one has ever taken this thing apart it appears that it has been like that from the day it was constructed at FL. found a 32 MM box wrench at Home depot and tightened it really good and tight.
my concern now is: has the hole in the casting be elongated or out of round. guess we were really lucky as we towed a 24 foot 10k lb box trailer with our 72 XKE jaguar inside for about 1100 miles.
so here is my question. are the ends of the drag link replaceable and can the casting on the wheel were it attaches be rebored if out of round or am I in the market for a new casting steering arm?

If it is tight I wouldn't worry about the mounting. Some ends are replaceable if they are threaded, and have a clamp on them. If they are stamped you have to buy the new one. Jim

most auto part stores we have most of the park in the help part of the store
there not going to have the right part numbers as its more hold the part in your hand and mach it up
the sway bar rubbers parts fro the bar and holder bar is there red looking and is only 12$ for a set of 4 like you need i did and the holder bar for a set of 2 black looking 22$
thats why they dont have them in stock as there every where for a low price

I just reread your post. The rubber bushings are available easy enough as others have stated. Was the charge you were quoted including alignment? Other words, they don't need your menial business. Go to a local car repair shop and they might do it for you for much less money.

Hi Rick:
Thanks for the response. I went on Energy Suspension's site and ordered the poly link bushings in way cool red. Short money. One of the link arms needed to be replaced because I was in a damned hurry to remove them. I destroyed the threads with my air wrench. A new one cost me $25 from Freightliner. So the job will cost me less than $50 with poly bushing versus butyl rubber. I won't need an alignment because the steering wasn't touched.
I completely understand that the dealership has overhead costs that are astounding however for a little creeper time I'll put the $225 I saved into fuel.
The dealer is Patriot Freightliner of Westfield, MA located in the western part of the state. They are excellent if anyone needs chassis work.
Diamond RV in Hatfield, MA is where I get any coach work that I can't handle,
done. Bernie is their electrical guy and he is awesome.
