Why would my tag wheels lock up?
I was intent on moving the motorhome out of its port to give it a bath. However, when I went to move forward, there was something wrong. The tag wheels were locked up. I dumped the tag air and tried again after allowing it air up again. This time, things were normal. I’m left wondering why.

Does the tag-axle have spring brakes like the drive axle? Disc or drum brakes? I've seen drum brake drums rusted so much the shoes cannot slide, and disc rotors the same, pads cannot slide on the rotor until an event jars them loose enough to allow the wheel to turn.

Thanks for the insights. It had sat for only a couple of weeks, but I suppose that could be long enough.

Guessing maybe trying to back up on next try? I've read that before.... Hasn't occurred with me yet but when we stop for a few months during the winter (we full time) it can seem like it takes more to make the initial movement when leaving.
Keep us updated?

Yep, rusted brakes shoes. It has happened a couple of times when parked in humid areas of the country. Has never happened out west in low humidity.
Backing up a foot or two makes them unstuck easier than going forward.

OK--not too many "brake shoes" on newer DP RVs. But caliper disc pads can stick/drag. Depending on how your tags are "lifted," my guess is that tags were not inflated so no/little weight on tag tires. Sticky pads might then cause the tag tires to skid. If I deflate my tag bags to navigate sharp turns and then I step on brakes, the tag tires will skid.

Newmar Dutch Stars on both Spartan and FL chassis have drums on the rear axles.
