Windshield washer and wiper timing

When I press the washer button on the dash, the wipers turn on and the fluid comes out nozzles on the wiper arm. When I release the button, the wipers run for about seven cycles, which is five cycles too many. Anything that was cleaned get smeared back into the windshield. The wipers literally squeal across the glass.

Does anyone know if there is an adjustment to shorten the time the wipers run after the washer button is released?

Agreed that can be a PITA. Have you tried RainX windshield washer fluid as it slicks up the surface and might eliminate the squeal part. (Kinda like fingernails on a blackboard)

I have some, but I'll need to drain the reservoir before I can put any in. I wonder if this is a computer parameter that can be changed.

Can't say for certain ; but on Chryslers; different year to year; the cycle was programed into the switch;5;then on some others pushing the button ramped the switch into the slowest delay cycle. We got complaints about both.

On my 94 and 97 Rams, I can turn the switch half way to on, push the button and pre-wet the windshield before turning the wipers on. I hate a dry blade on a windshield.
