You’re not going to believe this one!

I was heading west today in Ohio. I just got thru Cleveland and my check engine light popped on. I stopped at the next toll road rest stop. Found the closest Freightliner. It was Great Lakes in Monroeville, OH. I called them at about 2:30pm. They said get there before 4:30. I got there at 3:15pm. They checked the code. It was an accelerator error. They looked under my dash and my accelerator power cord was 1/2 disconnected. They plugged it back in and closed the lock. Told me it wasn’t locked. I was good to go by 4:15. That Freightliner was fantastic! They were real angels!
FYI, my Motorhome is a 2020 Winnebago Horizon 42Q with 23,200 miles.
I never had any issue for the 18 months I’ve own this unit.
I got lucky, when he put the code reader on I was praying to God ( all the Gods ) that it wasn’t a DEF head.
BTW, if it completely came off it would derate the Motorhome to 5mph.
Heck, we just did a 5000 mile trip to Glacier last month.

Check your accelerator power cords!

Dang, Nice to hear a good service center experience for once. These stories are few and far between these days it seems.
As a former dealer tech I recommend you leave a glowing review for that Freightliner Dealer, and all those involved getting you back on the road asap. Safe Travels!

Great to hear positive reports about shops.

When I ran the Peterbilt shop in Kamloops for 2 days a week, I rarely charged anyone for a quick fix like that. Just not worth the time and paperwork.

Besides, if it turned out to be a bigger problem afterwards, a positive previous exprience always smoothed things over.

No charge, they said it’s under warranty.
Good people.

Back when we bought our 2014 Excursion, I was going for a practice drive after we’d taken possession on a Saturday. All of a sudden my entire dashboard went dead. No instruments, nothing. I was about 10 miles from the dealership so I figured I’d drive it there and see if I could just drop it off and hopefully get with service on Monday (this was LaMesa of Sanford Fl). I pulled in and o e of the salesman came by to ask what was up. I explained the situation and the guy told me the service manager was there for a training class and he’d ask him what to do. Next thing I know, the manager and a dozen techs come out and are all over my coach. They pulled the dash panel off and same as you, one of the connectors had come out. 15 minutes later I was on my way. Pretty cool experience.

My best repairs are on the road, worst close to home.

Best
* JES Forestry Equipment, Rocky Mount VA. Let me stay in their parking lot over a weekend while waiting for a Turbo replacement.

* Service Tire Truck Centers, Harrisonburg, VA walked me through FMCA discount & got me back on road with 4 new tires in about 3 hours after a blowout

* Cummins Greensboro NC - got my generator running when another shop broke it.

WORST
* Snider Fleet Greensboro - go here if you want things done wrong. My front end now shakes above 50.
