Accessing motor for floor slideout on entry step

Unit is a 2001 National Caribbean Diesel. Step cover slide motor just hums when switched to "on"
I cannot find a way to access this motor without taking drastic measures such as cutting a hole in the floor. I also had the unit at a respected RV Repair place --- he spent about 1 hour trying to access with no luck.
Please help. Does anyone know of a club or association of former National Employees ???
Any input will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

When mine hummed on old motorhome it was because battery was low. Is your battery completely charged? On my National I had a broken ground wire underneath that stopped it from working. This is the green wire. Also you will have a pin that holds the shaft from motor. If you take the pin out you should be able to pull the steps down to access the motor.
