Cabinets

We are planning (at this point) to have cabinets installed along the top of the passenger side slide above the kitchen table and living room chairs meaning smaller windows but more storage.
Has anyone done this that might have pictures to share?

We have a 2018 Summit. I would think that putting cabinets above the dining/sitting area would make it feel somewhat claustrophobic. The amount of storage gained by putting cabinets here; I would wonder if it would be worth it or not.

My wife and I own and operate a custom cabinet manufacturing business. Basically the way the cabinets are built in our trailer, they are on incremental standards that make the best utilization of materials, not necessarily work for actual real world storage. If you pursue this, measure the stuff you are intending to store. A wall cabinet depth of 12" is basically worthless in my opinion. The stuff you will want to store will be just about 1" shy of fitting. Our cabinets really look nice, but when you start trying putting stuff in them it doesn't fit.

We have shallow cabinets over our table and my tv watching chair in our motor home and even though not real big we find them usefully for many things, canned goods, snacks, camera's, ECT. I also thought it might help even out weight a little if that's any issue with NH.
I don't know the size of the cabinets, we are having a hard time getting drawings.
Thanks for the comments.

Dave,
We struggled with this decision as well and decided we did not want the cabinets above the table because we did not want to block any of our view out of the window above the kitchen table. I also did not want to risk that the cabinets could have been a head banger when sitting down at the table. I will send you a photo to the email address below your signature.

My mistake. I thought that was an email address. I never have figured out how to send photos over the forum. If you want to PM me an email or cell number I will email or text you a photo.

Dave,
We are getting cabinets over the freestanding dining table, no buffet. The unit just went to paint and I don’t have pictures. Cole may be able to get you some or I can send you some when it gets back. We did have the cabinets over the dining in the DRV and didn’t have any head knocking issues, at least with the cabinets.

Thanks, we currently have cabinets the full length of the slide in our motorhome and the slide height is 73" and the cabinet height is 14" down from the ceiling and 14" out from the wall and we have not had any issues.
From what I'm told the ceiling height in the slide of a Majestic is 83.5" and the cabinets are 16" tall and only 12" deep so I'm thinking it should not be an issue. And it should still feel more open than in our current motorhome.
Pictures would be great, I'll hit Cole up in case you are not in the area but he has been pretty busy as of late it seems.

cabnet photos

This may be too late for your order but I have photos of my above dining room cabinets on my website. I just received my rig in late September. Lets see if this will let me leave a link to the gallery.

Thanks for those and what a great looking rig you have and a great collection of build photo's.
We did opt to have cabinets in the passenger slide like you did and I think we will be pretty happy that we did.
Question, what countertop did you have installed, it looks similar to what we picked out, something that NH did not offer as an option.

Great photos. Looks like a very nice rig. Curiosity question: Hard to tell from the photo, but it looks like there is a quick-connect gas outlet in the cabinet beside the fridge. What's it for?

Cowboy Frank, You have my curiosity about your desk set up with the 4 monitors and 2 rotary button type phones. Can you elaborate?

The counter top is LG Pisa solid surface.

The quick connect is a compressed air outlet. I have a small (portable type) air compressor in the basement. I had NH install piping to both sides of the basement next to the doors and the one seen in the photo. About 6 years ago I had air piping and a large compressor installed in the house I had in Castle Rock, CO. Fell in love with air tools (mainly small ones) and had to have that available in the trailer.
