Gen-Y pin box or any suggestions

Have any New Horizons owners updated thier pin boxes? I am currently looking at the Gen-Y 8090 30k pin box. My problem with factory pin box is I have a long bed Chevrolet 3500 dully and I can't hitch up with tailgate down. I need an extra 6-7 inches of pin box length in order to hitch with tailgate down. The Gen-Y should give me the extra length I need. I am open for suggestions if anyone has one. Thanks in advance for your help I own a 2013 New Horizons Summit F34RLTSS

I had the same issue. Got a new ďnotchedĒ tailgate. Much better.

Very interesting hitch. Hadn't seen that before. Looks much better than my 365 lb behemoth air ride hitch. I'll be interested to hear how it works out for you.

I have the Gen-Y Executive Gooseneck hitch on my 2020 Majestic that I pull with my 2020 F450 . I can lower my tailgate and hitch up without any clearance issues . I love mine and havenít had any issues.

Thanks for the pictures. Just curious did you have the Gen-Y originally? If not were you able to hitch with tailgate down? Also did it help the ride?

I don't see how this hitch can eliminate chucking like a ET and others do. Or do you still have one of these hitches also?

It was installed when I picked up our 5thwheel at New Horizons. I also have the B&W gooseneck ball . I think it pulls very well and it leaves my bed open to use when not pulling. It was offered as an option when we purchased our 5thwheel, I have no other experience with any other type of hitch . The torsion flex built into the hitch is similar to the torsion flex on a MorRyde suspension which we also have .

I forgot to add when hitching if Iím straight on no problem with hitting tailgate . I have about 2-3 inches of clearance between tailgate and 5thwheel when tailgate is down. Of course if Iím not straight it would hit . I ordered hitch from Gen-Y and they custom sized it . New Horizons was going to order it for me but they couldnít decide on a size . I think they want one size to fit all of their needs . Much better to have it sized to suit your load .

I have the Gen-y gooseneck on my 2021 Majestic. Ram 5500 so I don't have the tailgate issue. Have experienced no chucking.

I too was concerned about the weight rating on the Gen-Y. Mine is marked for 6500-8500 lbs and I have a tongue weight of about 4800#. But after 2000 miles I see the movement/flex that I would expect. And as I lower the hitch onto the ball see the indicator move into the middle of the green range.

Very happy with the Gen-y.

Same here no chucking or very minimal. Mine is rated at 4500 - 6000 and Iím running about 4000-4100 on the hitch . Indicator runs in the middle.

My question would be to New Horizon for the pin box change. They built the trailer and installed the original pin box.

They (New Horizons) pulled off the pin box they had originally installed and installed the Gen-Y hitch when I picked it up from them on original delivery.

I had a truck breakdown one time and had a very hard time finding a tow company that could pull a heavy 5th wheel. A guy finally came with his personal hugely under-rated pickup and did the job. Has anyone ever had to find a tow company for a goose-neck? Would it be easier or harder to find than for a standard 5th wheel hitch?

I bought a gooseneck to 5th wheel pin adapter so that I never have an issue with a repair shop/etc saying they can't move a gooseneck. Already used it several times moving around at the NH factory. Amazon item.
