Vessel Sink and Galvanic Corrosion

To all owners who have a vessel sink in their bathroom. The first picture is of the drain tube that screws onto the bottom of the sink drain shown in the second picture. Where these two meet, there is significant galvanic corrosion, so much so that the nut of the drain tube was corroded through, allowing the tube to come away from the sink drain. The bottom of the sink drain was so corroded that the compression nut that pushes the washer against the bottom of the sink to make a seal, would not unscrew and had to be cut with a Dremel to be removed.
As per Mr. Ulmer; "The part you need is made by Dehco Inc.
Replacement parts are available from Recreation Nation
https://recreationnation.me/main/catalog/169
The part is (ORB VESSEL FILLER DRAIN) the part number is 204790".
When I install the new parts, a coating of dielectric grease will prevent future corrosion at the junction of the Sink Drain and Drain Tube.

Sorry to hear about your sink problem, but glad to see it fixed.
I see you traded your F450 for an F 550. Whydid you trade up so soon?

Stuart will answer, but the typical reason is the pin weight overloads the specs for the rear axle of a 450. A 550 has more GAWR. With a hauler body you do have more weight on the rear than a standard pickup bed. With larger/heavier trailers you may come near or exceed the GAWR of the 450.

You can run into the same issue with the Dodge 3500 HD - the one with a GCWR of 37K. It may "pull" all that, but the rear axle rating may preclude heavy trailers at a certain point. You also have to be VERY careful with bed rail clearance. The Dodge sits pretty high.

Several factors came together.
A big problem was that the F450 RAWR on the door post was close to 900 pounds shy of the published specifications on the internet brochures which I was using to guide my purchase. I also think that NH needs to adjust their weight calculations and design. You add a washer/dryer, a 4th bedroom slide plus all the stuff a full timer hauls around in the basement, it is easy to upset the pin weight ratio. With the F550 hauler body, I have more storage to move heavy stuff (tools) out of the basement and onto front & rear axles of the truck and use more of the front axle, thus reducing the pin weight, 27% to 24%.

I always thought that an F450 was a little on the light side for a trailer that heavy.
