Neither trailer was at the show so I just started looking at all of them, and when you start looking at 5th wheels you'll find they have a lot more to offer than a pull trailer. Before you start dumping on what I bought you may want to go look at one.
Been thinking of the same and we have owned our 321RES for 3 years.. Just more space.. But the extra length is a killer up here.. I have a hard time with our 321.. Hate being limited..

I'm not dumping on 5th wheelers. It's unfair to compare 5th wheelers and trailers. Each serves it's own purpose.
If you like large- heavy units that takes up the bed of your truck then so be it.
Happy trails,

Happy trails,

Giving up the bed of my truck is exactly why I've been against buying a 5th wheel all of these years. I told my wife I would never buy one, but then when I started giving them some consideration I began to see all that they offer. That's when I opened my eyes a little wider and really started looking and weighing the difference between needing my truck bed and not needing it. Hell when I seen how much storage was available on the fifth wheels it was an easy decision now that I don't have dirt bikes or quads. My overall length is 54' total so I'm probably not much longer than I would have been if I would have bought the 321. It is a little heavy but I'm not towing with an f150 or Toyota so I'm comfortable with it. I think the overall ride down the road may be better as well I have absolutely no tail wag even when passing semi's or getting blown buy by semi's.

I'm glad you're happy with your decision. That's what camping is all about. I had a 1400# Equalizer Hitch on my last trailer (2007 Jayco Eagle 322FKS) took it off and had it installed on the new 2014 321RES and it pulls with no problems at all. No sway when tractors or buses pass me. I pull it with my 2007 Dodge Ram Megacab with the Cummins diesel engine. Been through Eastern & Western mountains. A great hitch.
You have fun with your 5th and enjoy the memories.
Happy trails,

Has anyone notice fading on their front cap? Our is a 2012 model and the front cap has started fading.

No fading of the fiberglass and a slight discoloration on the propane cover.. We try to wax the trailer twice a year and I usually use 303 (similar to armor-all, yet much better, protects against UV) on all surfaces (Even the roof!) in between waxes, twice a year..
I do have an are of stress fractures in the gel goat.. It is not a serious issue, just an area where the fiberglass has/is flexing.. Sort of a bummer as I see it, and I do not care for it..

Living room mattress

Is anyone having issues w their air mattress? We went to blow ours up last weekend and it is all out of shape. It has a huge roll of air in the middle and our friends could not sleep on it. It appears that the seams have given out that distributed the air equally. Does anyone know if his is a defect or under warranty? It is a 2012 model.

We've had our front cap fade quite a bit. Hand waxed twice a year and cleans up pretty good but, the fade comes back quickly. The rest of the trailer looks great.

We haven't used our air mattress much but, it's been fine every time we've needed it.

We have not had any fading of the fiberglass, but at the top have had some fading of the decals. About the middle of last summer we had one of those West Coast metal car ports (40' x 18') built and are able to keep it under cover now except when were on the road.

Hi Stan IN tN.

We bought a 2012 used 321 res this past spring and in Aug. did notice the very top part of the front cap turning very dull. I had waxed it a number of times but the fading comes back. We did decide to trade up to a Montana for various reasons and while at the dealership for three days in Flordia they were repainting the front caps of three different Cougars. They looked really bad. I was told some of the Cougars have painted fronts and the color of the 321 res is in the gel coat but still will fade. Did love the 321 res but wife had issuses getting lights turned on because of no wall switches. We are dealing with a few health problems and she is short really could not reach up to the ceiling light switch.

It pulled great had no problems after buying a pullrite 20,000 lbs travel trailer hitch. Did pull it with a 2006 Dodge Ram Quad cab 2500 4x4 5.9 Diesel. Did not have to remove the spare tire or remove the oem hitch. Did have to re route exhaust pipe. Do have this for sale in the classifieds plus an Equalizer 10,000 lbs hitch.

Good luck with the 321 res and safe camping.

Stan in Tn.
