Going in on the BRP or 221 you will be fine if you pay attention to the roads and not the bugs on your back bumper.

Blue Ridge Parkway is a beautiful ride with a scenic overlook between almost every mile marker. On the parkway double the time you think you will be on the road. If time is no issue the trip on the parkway is worth it! It is a destination in itself.

I agree the Parkway is the way to go. Just drive your vehicle and don't worry about anyone else and you will be fine.

The Blue Ridge Parkway has some beautiful scenery, like the Lind Cove Viaduct. There are no long steep grades on the Parkway, but there is a short section of steep grade on 221 just before you get to the Linville Caverns. Easily Managed, just want you to be aware its there.

I used to live 30 minutes from the BRP and I really miss it.

Often we take things for granted when they are in our back yard. I can see the Peaks of Otter from home. BRP has so many beautiful places to enjoy.

From some of the overlooks, you can see the Charlotte skyline on a clear day with a good set of binoculars. One of my faves was going to there on evenings when there were severe thunderstorms coming up the Catawba Valley or I-85 out of SC. Mother Nature puts on terrific lights shows if you know where to look. My second was going up during snow storms. They closed the parkway, but rarely the gates.
