Referring to posts 32 thru 35 above. If you are licensed in South Carolina there is a requirement for upgraded licenses'.
Below 26000 you can use you normal drivers license.
Above 26000 you need a class "E" or class"F" license.
Class "E" is for over 26000 and NOT towing any type of vehicle
Class "F" is for over 26000 and towing any type of vehicle
Computer test, skills course, and driving road test for each Class. They know you cannot back a MH with a car or truck in tow so it is a straight road test on roads that they have set up as their course.

Great to see everyone this weekend. Beautiful day yesterday to get the basement organized. Glad we packed up because it is raining this morning.

I know this is an old thread, but wanted to follow up on my NC license question. Becky and I both just passed our driving test for a Conditional Class B, that's what several NC MV people called it, and it is required for anything above 26,001 GVWR towing 10,000# or less. Both of our testers had us run through the air brake test which is simple and good for safety anyway. Now we are both legal as we head out soon for our first long for us trip. 6-8 weeks and we'll see Frank and Brenda at their KOA in Wyoming as we head to a Tiffin rally.
