1994 Travel Supreme 5TH Wheel Manual Slide

Hello, I own a 1994 Travel Supreme 5th Wheel, model 36 RK SS. Wonderful trailer that has not been hitched up / moved since 1996. Itís been sitting at an RV Space, lived in almost all itís life.

My first task is to make sure the two slides retract back in to the trailer. Attached are photos of my large and small slide out.

When underneath the RV today I couldnít find anywhere to manually activate the slide outs. I am very hesitant to use the 12 V slide controller until I work out the bugs via manual mode. Here are my questions, in case anyone can help:

1. What is the location to manually retract the slide out? I assume near the slide out motor, but not sure if thatís accessible INSIDE the RV or through the BOTTOM of the RV (under the plastic protective cover). I have manual but does not say anything about this.

2. Given The RV has sat for 25 years without the slides being used, what do you recommend doing prior to retracting? I was thinking brushing / gently sanding off visible corrosion and using silicone spray on the railsÖ. Appreciate other thoughts or concerns with this approach.

3. Am I being too nervous with avoiding the 12 volt
Slide out switches until I manually retract / extend the slides? Or should I clean, oil, and give it a go?

Thank you in advance for your help!
Allen

This is coming from a 2004 motorhome guy so I certainly can not be considered an expert on your trailer. That being said I would say wire brushing corrosion would be a good thing. Silicon spray also is probably good. As far as trying to manually retract I wouldn't go through the extra hassle. If your slide controller switches work like mine the first press on the switch will initiate a retract, if you follow this with another push it should command the system to stop, the next push should be to extend. If you have this round robin functionality it will allow you to stop a retracting slide if there was something you didn't like.

Hopefully a 5th wheel owner will chime in here and offer you some advice based on their experience.

Thank you very much! This was very helpfulÖ. Iíll give it a go. No harm in starting there, perhaps worst case the control will max out amps and turn off. I joined the group you referenced, thank you!
