Angry 8.3 ISC coolant filter

For those who service their own coaches--is there a shutoff so as to not drain the system when changing the coolant filter in the above engine?
Last time I did it I was flooded with coolant!

I ended up not doing the work myself see here http://www.irv2.com/forums/f123/cool...ca-172819.html spike45 has a wealth of knowledge about Cummins fluids.

Back to the shut off. It is right on the housing for the filter. I have read that they can be stuck so it is useless though. I think there is a drawing of it in my manual. If you don't have yours I will try to look it up and scan it.

Yes sir the valve "handle" is towards the rear of the coach and right above the filter itself.

Both times I have used the shut off valve on my 350, both times they broke making a trip to Cummins necessary along with a high repair bill. The valve is plastic junk that crumbles from engine heat. From now on I will add the SCA through the radiator fill and leave the filter alone.

8.3 coolant filter

Thanks for all the replies--
I went to my "Quickserve" site and downloaded the schematic, now to see if that really matches what I have.
I would be very bummed if the valve is not metal--will see before I order the
WF 2074 filter
