Black & Gray Tank Odor

Best solution ever. We were fighting odor like everyone else until two years ago. BTW we almost full time spending 8 - 9 months in out Travel Supreme.

If odor is happening while traveling install Cyclone vents on the roof, problem solved. Available at Camping World.

The real magic. I found this recipe about two years ago on the net.

Dump your black & grey holding tanks. Buy a box of powdered Culligan Water Softener from the store ( I found it at Walmart in the laundry detergent isle} You can use the liquid, I find the powder easier to transport. Mix 2 cups in a gallon jug with warm water shake to dissolve the powder and pour down the toilet do the same for the great tank. Add a cup of cheap liquid laundry detergent to each tank, that's it.

The smell comes from the build up on the side of the tanks, by softening the water it breaks down the "gunk" The first time I did this I was amazed at the black crap that came out of the black tank (no pun intended). I did this for 3 dumps in a row, now I do the softener once every 6 or 7 dumps but add a cup of detergent every time I dump. At the end of the season I add a gallon of bleach to the holding tanks before heading home from my last trip, this destroys the bacteria and we start fresh the following year. Everyone I told about this loves it, it is amazing.

Campgrounds don't have a problem with it. It commonly used household products, laundry detergent and water softener. BTW do not use the water softener salt pellets they are not the same and will not work.

Going to Sea Level gauges seems to be the only solution for sensor problems.
