check engine light on with constant noise

My check engine light [which is also the glowplug light] won't go off after coach has started. This results in an annoying warning siren that won't stop. It used to come on when climbing a long hill which I fixed by stopping, turning of the coach for a minute or so then starting up and continue until the next long incline. Today that fix didn't work. HELP! Is that a cummins problem or coach issue?

I'll check the antifreeze. The temp guage was normal and I had heat in the cabin.

I would say it is a Cummins light through the ECM (Electronic control module) Do you have the cummins manual that might show you what the light means? I doubt very much if you have glow plugs in a 500 cummins, most of them today have a air intake heater. It would help if we could see what kind of light you have like a photo of it.

Thanks, I just thought all diesels had glow plugs. the light does go out rather quickly after the ignition is activated but then so did my dodge cummins. Its a picture of an engine block with a check mark inside and when it comes on so does the buzzer which happens almost immediately. The engine is a 500 ISM I think.

My 2006 TS 45 Select DS 14 has a Cummins ISM 500 and I had a similar problem with the check engine lite comming on and the alarm. It can be shut off by the switch on or by the speedometer. It only stays off for a short time. You can read the error in the digital display on the dash. My problem was the EGR valve on the engine. The EGR valve has been a problem area on the ISM engine. Look on the Diesel engine and Cummins blogs. I had to take it into a Cummins dealer and have it replaces as I could not get the mounting bolts loose. It cost about $1300.00 to fix. Has worked good since repair. Join the Cummins online Power Group and will get a discount on service and repairs.
