Does the Hydra Hot Deisel have to be on for furnace

To use the furnace, does the Hydra Hot have to be turned on? On the Deisel setting I would assume?

When you're driving the engine coolant will be circulated through the system to provide heat. When stationary you need to run the diesel burner to run the heat.

The electric element alone is sufficient to heat our coach until the outside temp is below 50. Gotta set thermostat to "furnace", and flip the electric switch if you're on shore power. Diesel only if you're boondocking.

We do the same as Driver, electric only for heat until it gets to cold. We are in Pahrump NV now where that has worked just fine. Furnace only has to run a few times in the early morning.
