Fridge

Well on top of everything else I now have what is apparently a fridge problem...
My wife just came in and announced we have a little burned hole at the lower left of the fridge... In fact the crisper has abit of a singed area that correlates with the hole in the case..
Another issue is.. My back is totally wacked! In fact went to the neurosurgeon today... Plus I am no woodworker...
Has anyone had one of these done in the Denver area.. Is the Samsung still the fridge of choice for this?
BTW the fridge still works!
Thanks in advance for any advice..

Sounds like burner area has deteriorated,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I would completely disassemble burner box and inspect before ever using propane system

And I would be leery of using electric heat.......

Burned/singed section of fridge...........that could mean FIRE

Yes the rf18 is what I just installed yesterday. Not a small job but even with a furnace under the fridge I was able to get it to fit. Ice maker is not working yet but it does cool in a couple of hours not days.

Ron, sorry to hear the back is still causing problems.

Suggest you first answer the question as to which style of refrigerator YOU prefer. Do your due diligence on benefits and drawbacks of each, then go for it! I'm in the must have gas/elec group, but that is what fits my program.

Old Biscuit gives sound advice. Stuff melting is stuff very close to burning!

Touring America 2015: Samsung Refrigerator Install

Golden Mobile RV and Diesel Service
7926 Lone Pine Dr Golden, CO 80403 (720) 415 - 9802

Give Mitch or his son Luke a call to see if they do this - Honest - Fair - GOOD - they do it all from Black Tank replacement to Allison Transmissions.

Not sure if you are close but Golden is just down the street from downtown Denver -

Hope this is of some help.

I'm with the "do not use" crowd on this one. Sorry I can't help with a repair facility, but can assure you once you have a residential unit installed the only comment you'll have is why did I wait so long. Good luck with the fridge and more importantly, your back.

Lou.. I decided that in the middle of the night as I laid there not sleeping in pain and churning with anxiety about this why take the chance.. I don't want to be another statistic... Or a crispy critter.. Besides my wife would haunt me forever if anything happened to the pup!
Thanks for your concern buddy!

Ron, sorry to hear the darn back is causing problems. We changed out our Norcold with the RF197, with Lou's and others, input. Now my favorite saying: wife happy!! This was 1 year ago.. Purchased from HD, on sale for $950. Elite RV in Harrisburg, Or, installed. I called them and drop shipped from HD. In fact, after Elite asked me the price, they ordered 5 for them. They installed the 5 within a week for others. Samsung will honor the 5 year warranty on rolling stock, most others will not.
Take of the back & get well soon.

Found this post; from, Dr4Film; hope you can use the info:
I am sure that there are other models that will fit into the space or even after the space has been modified.

However, Samsung is the ONLY manufacture that has stated that their fridge WILL work using a MSW inverter whereas there has not been any other manufacture that will guarantee that fact even though it may work. Of course if you have a PSW inverter than that point doesn't matter. Also, I have had warranty work done on my Samsung RF197 while installed in the coach BUT I have read where others who installed Whirlpool, Maytag, and other brands, they refused to honor the warranty once they found out it was installed in a motor-home.

I would suggest that you do an extensive research and due diligence BEFORE deciding on what to purchase, etc. It will pay off in the long run.

In 2010 I put a Kitchen Aid RF in our 04 Essex that had a Norcold. The Kitchen Aid has worked great for 6 years on MSW and only had to cut 2 inches from the top molding to slide right in. Just like everybody else, why didn't I do that when the Norcolds first started burning up. Hundreds of rigs have had major fires over the last 7 to 8 years. Bought the Kitchen Aid at Lowe's.

Hi all..
We are entering our 2nd week here outside Steamboat Springs trying to keep some stuff cool with ice in the now never cold and coolers.
Not fun. And wife has had about enough of this.
I have a Dometic ice maker and that has save the day. We are still buying a bit of ice but this little bugger really kicks it out.
So all in all really am anxious to get his big paper weight replaced!
Wife really doesn't want to lose the drawer under the fridge but I think it is going to have to go. We shall see.
I have virtually no cell signal here there for almost no data so limping along both figurative ( my back really bad) and actually with this ice mom on!

Ron,

Hang in there, as soon as you get that new Samsung installed all this will be a distant memory. Good luck with both the fridge and the back.

Ron,
Our No-Cold did the same as yours 3 years ago. We had the cooling unit replaced, ($1880.00 installed), and it has worked like a charm ever since. This spring in Phoenix we were running 38/18 with 100 degree outside temp on setting #9. We are presently in Alaska and have 36/6 with 60 degrees outside on setting #6. We did install a Nor-Cold unit and not the Amish. The guy that did the install for me didn't want to use an Amish unit. Think he got one from them one time that didn't work and he had a hassle getting it replaced.

Two things that really helped us were making sure the installer really applied a good coat of mastik when he installed the new cooling unit and making sure the exhaust fans were all working as designed.

Just another data point for you. My wife didn't want to loose her drawer either!

Hope you get it fixed soon, Reverting back to an ICEbox is a pain I know!

She can store the little bit from the drawer in the New Frig - it's so much bigger!
