I carry the 61197 jack stands with us and they have performed well over the last 8 years. I usually only use them in the lowest position anyway and even if they did fail, the stand would only drop to it's lowest position. I think I will just keep my stands, but I will be aware of potential failures during future use. Thanks for the heads up.
