To remove the lens on ceiling lights, use a pair of 12 inch chanelock pliers with a flexible but tight fitting piece of tubing (1/2 inch) over the jaws to rotate the lens for removal. They only turn about a quarter turn before able to remove from the locking groove. Then replace the halogen bulb with led for cooler, brighter, more efficient lighting.
To remove the lens you can also use the soft jaw specialty pliers used for removing the wheel lug nut covers on your wheels.

For stubborn lens, try a quick snap rotation.

I just went through this LED conversion Friday on my Beaver Thunder. My glass ceiling lenses are just over 3 inches diameter, the inner reflector is about 1.75 inches wide. I used a small oil filter swivel tool with a round metal band to twist off the stubborn lenses carefully. The Leds I used were from Super Bright LEDs, part #s G4-NW9-DAC natural spectrum and G4-WW9-DAC warm spectrum. They are brighter than the Halogen bulbs and much lower electrical draw.
