no there isn't any way to get behind the unit. The unit has to be removed to get at the line

Ok here goes. Not sure what you mean by long screws below? There are usually 2 screws through the frame into the floor at the bottom front of the frig. These need to be removed as well as the metal bracket on top of the frig. Once this is done to save time and backaches, build a platform as high as the wood at the bottom and as wide as the frig. Place this platform on a rug so you can slide it out of the hall way into the living area. Remove the right side of the frig door completely, the left side(freezer side) can simply be left open. Please note there is not enough room with the doors on to get the frig out into the hallway. Now I use 2 small crow bars and slip them under the front frame of the frig on each side and leverage up and forward onto the platform. It come easy as it is on rollers. Also, very important to tie a string onto the plug in for the frig underneath in the storage compartment so you can pull it back thru when putting the frig back in.(make sure the string is plenty long) I have removed our frig on our 2007 Select a couple times as well as our previous 2003 Select. On final note, if you are having any issues with the frig, I suggest replacing the mother board while out, it takes like 4 minutes to do this and the board is only around $125.00. Clean all the dust and dirt away while it is out also!!!!! Hope this helps, its not a hard job IF you have the platform. If you are replacing the water line because its leaking is one thing or you think it may be plugged up, but if water isn't dispensing it is more than likely the mother board. This board controls everything in the frig and they have improved it over the years!

One thing I might add to the excellent discussion above.

The fridge sits on a platform. While you have it out remove the platform and check for mice. We found significant evidence of mice under there. Nice warm nesting area. Before reinstalling the fridge, seal the holse for the electrical cord in the platform and in the floor to the basement to keep out the mice. A nice heavy foam will do. The bottom hole in the floor can be sealed from the basement side.

Good luck.
