Remove microwave

I need to remove my microwave.

According to the installation instructions from GE it clips into a plate mounted on the back wall, rotates up and there are 3 bolts that come down from the cabinet floor above into the top of the microwave. This assumes it is being mounted below a cabinet in a stix and brix home.

It appears there is about 6 inches between the top of the microwave and the roof of the kitchen slide.

There ceiling inside the cabinets to either side of the microwave appear to be the same board the microwave would be bolted to.

Has anyone removed theirs?
Am I going to have to go through the roof or remove the fascia board above the microwave and cabinets?

The microwave rests in slides on the back of the microwave and opposing slides attached to the wall to hold it in place. The space above the microwave allows you to simply raise the microwave off of the slides and remove from cabinet. Just like in your home.

Thanks,

But unfortunately the sides do not touch the walls. And there is no space above the microwave, it cannot be lifted.it is firmly fixed to a track on the back wall and the ceiling.

So I actually read the original installation manual and it lead me astray. I'm going back to not reading instructions.

Thanks much.

The reason I needed to pull the microwave was the turntable had quit turning.

The above referenced thread got me the info I needed to remove it and thanks to rag_ftw I was able to locate a new turntable motor.

Apparently almost all microwaves use the same turntable motor that comes in 2 different flavors.

120 Volt AC and 21 Volt AC.

These are the 2 versions identical except for voltage.

I am GUESSING the 120 volt models are for older units, like mine, and the 21 volters are for newer units.

The motor was finally destroyed after 17 years of water and grease running down the shaft.

Entire project took about 20 minutes.

Thanks for coming back and posting your fix. That will save someone else from having to buy a new oven in the future.

Here is the link from rag_ftw for microwave parts.
https://www.repairclinic.com/PartDet...1S018C/1352898

Just below the info on the motor is a link to "how to videos" on microwave repair that was also very helpful on this project.

The motors (both styles) are also available on Amazon.
I have to say the input to this thread saved me from replacing the entire microwave. So instead of $500+ I spent $45 and got to keep an oven we really like.
