Roof solor panel

We have a 2005 TS 40 DSO 4. My understanding is that the solor panel on the roof directly in front of the rear A/C charges the house batteries. Does anyone have any knowledge regarding how I can test the solor panel for output and if in fact it is putting power into the batteries?

Thanks for your help.

If it is like my 05 DS04 that solar panel keeps the coach batteries charged. The house batteries are charged via the generator or shore power. I don't have the information here but I want to think the solar panel is either 5 or 10 watts. Not real sure about checking the charge but I do know I have never had a problem starting the engine (ISL Cummins) either after setting up in cold or very hot temps.

The panels should have an output (in full sun) of 13-16v. As they don't put out many amps, you may have an issue telling if the battery is charging on those panels... Generally the charge controllers have charge indicators but some small panels don't use them as they don't produce enough current to damage the batteries.

Can a person replace the panel very easily - mine looks sun baked and looks like if I touch it the roof will be ruined?

If you go to the end of this link the charging system for panel is explained.
The panel maybe hard to remove if rubber roof if fiberglass maybe not.
If you can see wiring maybe just seal a new panel on top of old.
But if working wouldn't worry about it.
