Select and Envoy

I went with a friend this week down to Florida to buy a Envoy 42RB24. On the test drive & coming home I noticed the steering isn't nearly as nice as on my Select. It feels like it "digs in" and steers a little rough. You probably wouldn't even notice it, as my friend didn't, if you hadn't driven one before.

On my Select I've had the complete X bracing done. On the Envoy it has all the bracing except the 2 angled pieces going up behind the generator. Would those 2 pieces added change the "feel" to the steering?

Also mine has the upgraded 315 tires. Would the bigger tires make a difference in the handling?

The two pieces going up n the front make a huge difference. It will steer like a new motorhome.

On my Select, I had all the bracing that Bishop did, then later had Precision add the two pieces on 45 degree angle. Each of those two processes made a noticeable improvement in handling.

Then I switched from 295s on front to 315 tires, and that made a huge difference in my ride, not handling. That was partly because I could drop my tire pressures down to 110 from 120, but mostly because the new sidewalls on the Michelin XZA1 tires were much softer than the previous Michelin XRV tires.

Different chassis under the Envoy, isn't it? Thought I'd heard it was a Mountain Master. Is it IFS or solid axle?

Dale, there IS a difference because of different chassis design as well as the angled bracing. After I did my angles, I immediately noticed a more rigid feeling coach. When going over a RR track, the steering stayed straight, requiring no correction. When traversing uneven ground I could feel the coach moving as a whole, with very little flex. The MM chassis is lighter duty, so would expect to flex more than a K-2.
