To Auto-level or to not Auto-level

That is my question to the TSupreme Omincients...
I just bought a 2003 TS 41 KS01
I was told by an "expert" who I now know is an expert in his own mind that I should not use auto-level on my rig because of the "windshield popping out" issue. Cross bracing has not been installed on my unit but I have read here that it being only 41' rig, that it didn't need it. I am finding out now of so many things this "Expert" told me that are not true, I decided to go to the Omnicients of all things TS to get the low down.

Your advice please... Cliff

If the auto-level feature might cause any negative effects I doubt Travel Supreme would have installed that feature.
I only use the auto-level feature when leveling my MH, once properly set is better and faster than manual leveling.
In addition, if you have an HWH leveling system, it is designed to use only activate two jacks at a time. This is specifically to prevent damaging anything by twisting the frame.

Cliff, I always use auto-level unless for some reason I only want one or two jacks to extend. My system is Equalizer only with no Hadley air. When it auto extends it will extend each leg one at a time until it makes ground contact. Once all four are on the ground it will start leveling with gradual movements of appropriate legs until it reaches the "null" level setting I have previously selected. IMO the auto-level function creates less strain on the coach than I would trying to complete a manual leveling operation.

Ray,In... Travel Supreme didn't fix the problem until 2007 or 2008. All earlier models owners had to x-brace their own rigs to eliminate the windshield working its way out. The longer the rig, the worse the problem
.
Rag ftw... thank you for the input. Pardon my Newby-ness but how do I know if I have Equalizer levelers and what is "Hadley air". I would agree about the torquing issue while trying to level manually. It's a bit nerve wracking.

The Hadley leveling is an air leveling system, not related to jacks, use one or the other.

Your jack system is by Equalizer Systems.
I installed a new control panel for the Equalizer system and it does not allow individual jack operation. Instead it operates 2 jacks at once. Front up/down, rear up/down, left up/down, or right up/down. i.e. both front jacks, etc.
No doubt this was changed due to racking or windshield problems, that many coaches had due to operator error. TS is not alone in the windshield issue.
The new controller still has the auto mode.

Rag IS an expert when it comes to the TS.

In all likelihood your TS does not need cross bracing or the windshield hoop.

Use the auto level unless for some reason it is not functioning correctly.

With a 41 footer don’t let the windshield thing spook you.

As usual, you guys are amazing...almost omniscient. Yes, I looked at my control panel and it IS an Equalizer and it is exactly like yours, Rag. Your operation instructions would be greatly appreciated.
Airboss... thank you for the reassurance that I have nothing to worry about concerning the windshield. I'm such a newby, my head is swimming with all of the other things I need to figure out and learn about this complex machine. My son in law who has been a Tiffen Bus owner warned me that owning a MH would be consuming and expensive at times.
Today we were looking at my rig and noticed that the two rear jacks were no longer on the ground but up about four inches. What's with that? A leak in the hydraulics/air system? The fronts are down to the ground as they should be. Thanks for your help guys...Cliff

Auto-level seams to work best on close to level sites. Not scientific but when on a lot of slope I try both auto-level and manual, auto-level will lift the tires often.

DoubleBlade..
Congrats on the coach! Many happy miles and smiles...
Read the instructions on the leveling system... Then pay special attention to setting te Null.. This is the position the system will automatically level to. I used a bubble level to manually set it to a level position. I started the process from a fairly level site so it wasn't difficult to fine adjust the system. Has worked great this way for years..
I have a 40 foot 04 coach.. And have not had windshield pushing issues.. But still watch for very unlevel sites and very uneven approaches etc.
Enjoy your new coach. They really are great coaches..

Thank you Rag for the instructions...very detailed!
Ron... I'm taking the rig to a shop close by to have them look over some things. And of course the lot is level unlike where I'm parked now. I'll do the "Null" thing there. Rag gave me a copy of the Equalizer manual with clear instructions how to do it. Thanks for the encouragement and good wishes... Cliff
