Travel Supreme ME - Years Produced?

Anyone have any idea how many 2008 TS ME's were produced. They appear to have made a few nice changes to the 2008's, but i doubt there were many produced.

My understanding from posts on iRV2 is they made 12. The first, which I am fortunate to own, was the demo model decked out in Harley-Davidson orange/silver with grey & metallic black. It is a 2005 Spartan frame, but was officially a 2006 model.

Hi Everyone,
I always wondered how many ME's were produced. Last October I was at the Spartan Chassis Class in Charlotte, MI for a week. One of the instructors (an Electrical Engineer) who was going over the main components of our Spartan Chassis had actually worked for Travel Supreme back in the day and informed me that "He" himself had probably wired my whole RV. I was quite impressed with his knowledge of where a lot of the wiring was run inside my unit.
Now I'm not exactly sure, but I recall either myself, or my girlfriend brought up the question of how many ME's were produced. I want to say I thought I had read about the number "12" being the amount of units built, and said that to the Engineer, but I believe he said there were more than that. I'm going to try and contact him again and ask if he recalls the amount built.

Regardless, I love my 2006 ME

I think there were probably more than 12. There are 7 or 8 listed for sale now. The 2008 has a 1 piece windshield - a newer from cap, and some upgraded interior items.

This may be a dumb question but exactly where is the motor located on these mid engines? I have a hard time understanding why the motor would not be in the rear??

motor location

The engine is located ahead of the Diff, from inside the coach the engine hatch is in the floor across from the refrigerator.

The REASON for the motor to be mounted mid-ship is to allow room in the rear to haul a small car.

We have owned a 2006 TS ME since 2013. I had heard there were about 100 of them made.

I have a question for anyone who also owned one. We have never used the back ramp in the entire time we have owned it. We used it to store 2 10' kayaks, our recumbent tricycles and golf clubs and tools. We were full-timers for 7 years and have recently bought a condo.

We are getting ready to sell it and tested the ramp today. My husband said he could hear it clicking, but it did not move out. Is there a lock on it anywhere? Or any suggestions on how to check the wiring. Maybe it's next owner will have a motor cycle or smart car.

Thanks,
Susan

you have two lock boxes on the left side of the garage one of the boxes has a toggle switch that controls the lock pins for the floor they most be opened for the floor to be lowered.
Ps we carry a mini cooper in our garage

Thanks for the reply!

Thanks so much. We will look for the toggle switch and test it out.

The two boxes will reach have two electric toggle switches with a key in the center. The upper left should be the locking pins, one on each side and they move together. Pushing down on the switch retracts the pins; pressing up extends them so they engage the struts that hold the rear of the ramp.

The upper right switch lowers and raises the rear of the ramp (i.e., the tilt). You have to lower the rest of the ramp (tilt it down) before extending it or the deck will hit the sides of the end cap.

The lower right switch extends the ramp out (down position) or pulls it in (pressing up). I've never quite figured out what the lower left switch does. Seems to slightly adjust tilt but never figured it out. The pump and hydraulic reservoir are in the driver's side at the front of the larger side access door to the garage.

BTW.. if those pins have not been retracted in years, it is possible they have rusted a bit and might need some PBBlaster to free them up. They are steel inside steel and will rust if not regularly cleaned and treated with silicone grease spray.

An aside. When I got mine, my research and some posts here and other forums indicated TS only made a dozen MEs, not a hundred. They only made them in 2006 to 09 (four years). Don't think the factory had the capacity to make that many MEs along with the Selects, Limited and others they also made.

Just put my 2006 Travel Supreme ME on the Classifieds Page

Thanks for the additional information about the pins. We will get them checked out next week. If you know of anyone looking for one of these unique models, have them check out my ad on the classifieds page.

How reliable are the ME's? More challenging to service the engine?
