Unknown wire
Could somebody help! I just replaced my chassis batteries and in the process I pulled a wire loose from one of the house batteries. Not sure what it is but it's a multi strand wire in a gray sheath almost like a telephone wire. The wires that are coming out are yellow, green, black that are tied together with a diode. Then a single red wire that I'm assuming goes to the terminal on the battery. What's throwing me though is these wires are tiny and they are going into a huge copper eyelet the same size as the main cables with what looks to be some kind of white sealant. I took a dremel with a cut off wheel and split the big heavy terminal and I can't see where the little red wire pulled out of or would make contact with the connector. All I cleaned out was the white sealant. But this sealant looks to be factory. Thanks again Scott

Do you have a monitor panel for the batteries?

Everybody! Go map you battery wires now. If you can, draw it on the inside of the compartment door where it will never be lost.
I relied on my great memory, and connected a small negative wire to the positive terminals. I am grateful that the smoke coming out of the dash did not turn into a fire, that the burned wire was easily accessible, that I did not fry the dash harness, that I did not burn up the Allison computer, that I had tools and wire with me, that I was parked for a few days to sort it out, that I had the basic skills to do the repair, etc.
Go map it now!

Scott,
It sounds like you are describing the temperature sensor from the inverter/converter. It is used to adjust the battery charge voltage based on actual temperature (as sensed at the battery post). If your setup is similar to mine the other end connects to the charger (I have a Xantrex inverter/charger) with a modular phone type of connector. If this is the case, you can get a replacement sensor/cable from the manufacturer. The charger will still function without it connected, but will default to a predetermine value (I think it is around 13.5 volts).
Good luck and let us know what you find.

Prior to disconnecting or disassembling anything I'll take a picture with my phone & email it to myself. I use the photo for memory and later print the photo out and put in my maintenance book. Saved my fanny more than once.

Checked the electrical diagrams for ISL 400 2007, no luck. May not be on Spartan diagrams. Agree with Lou. Also, give Spartan a call, very helpful. Good Luck

I do have a monitor for the batteries. By the way it's a 2006 insignia.
