1 Year Cornerstone Report

2022 - Cornerstone - 1 Year Report

Sorry for the long post but hopefully this gives others some ideas on what to expect. We have what I call a Covid Era coach.

We ordered our 2022 Cornerstone from NIRVC at the FMCA Rally in Gillette Wy July 2021.

We sold our 2017 Cornerstone B using RVTrader in September 2021. We used the NIRVC in / out program. The process was simple.

We love the W floor plan but would likely go back to a B if we buy another Entegra. Right now my wife likes the big kitchen in the Newmar London Aire 4569. I like the big windows and no carpet. But we like Entegra and hope they add these features before we are ready for another coach.

We picked up our Red 2022 Cornerstone W from NIRVC Nashville on Feb 14 2022. Valentine’s Day Coach. The paint job grew on us and now we like it.

We got the W floor plan with the fireplace wine fridge option. We love that option because the coach has much more room especially when closed up for traveling. We use the counter area above the wine fridge as a coffee bar / extra counter.

We have put 12,000 miles on the coach and 120 hours on the generator. We mostly stay a RV parks.

We spent 147 nights in the coach. Not continuous but total. Longest trip was 37 days and longest single stay was 9 days.

We store the coach in heated storage but also have room to park on our driveway as needed.

We spent the first 5 nights at NIRVC. Bobby and his maintenance team at NIRVC Nashville were great. They fixed several issues. We then drove down to Savannah then to Panama City. Then back to NIRVC for a couple more minor repairs before going home to Michigan.

We live in Michigan about an hour from Spartan and about 2 hours from Entegra. So getting work done is not too bad. Especially in the winter. All other work we have had done by Spartan or Entegra.

We have had some issues. Mostly minor and not fun impacting. Biggest issue was a DEF head failure caused by our DEF heater loop valve sticking open. We also had an oil leak that splattered our tow vehicle. Oil was leaking from the place the oil fill connect to the engine. Both these issues the coach was still drivable.

Here is our issue list. The list seems long but most issues we not fun impacting. NIRVC, Spartan, and Entegra have been good to work with. We left our coach at Entegra for a week for a good chunk of the repairs last November. All repairs were done under warranty. We have had the recommended services done as well.

I can only hope my list doesn’t come near yours, but I definitely have a few on it.

Thank you for posting. I ordered a Cornerstone in February 2021 and ended up cancelling because of the Covid scare with the economy. I subsequently bought a less expensive coach, Renegade Verona LE. I can honestly say that the only issue I have had in 2.5 years of ownership was a bad valve stem on the passenger tire. Zero other issues. In no way do I expect all Renegade coaches to be perfect but I would be flabbergasted to have had all of the problems you report.

I really want a Class A for all the room it affords and really love the layout and looks of the Cornerstone. I have been wanting to pull the trigger but all of those issues reported, mostly careless workmanship, would take away the fun for me. I would expect for all of that money to only have a quarter of those issues and all of them to be efficiently resolved.

I really wish someone would make a luxury Class A with quality, first time, workmanship under a million. Please note I am not meaning to disrespect anyone by my post as I keep hoping quality improves. I read the Entegra and Newmar forums every day to gauge.

The Cornerstone is one beautiful looking coach no doubt.

Hi RVFunlovers - We had an Anthem on the line and delivered about the same time as your CS. What you are seeing is about right given our experience. Lots of PIA issues that should have been caught. However thanks to the good folks at Entegra and Spartan we have nearly all the issues resolved. What I can say is once the coach has been rebuilt it's a nice coach. Hope the next one is better off the line. But they have good bones.

Thank you for the post and the honest feedback. Regarding the issues that have not been resolved, are you still working with Entegra Coach customer service to get these fixed?

These are three issues that still need to be resolved:
1. Main door wind noise while driving. - Worked on by Entegra Nov 22 - Not Foxed
2. Wine Fridge needs a lock. Using Velcro for now.
3. Window above wine fridge shade is not aligned over the window. Just realized that after a year of ownership.

Thank you.

Hal, thank you for taking the time to tell it like it is. I have seen many post like yours over the years, but it is normally 80% vendor items. Yours is 90% construction related. It is a shame that the quality control section end of the building that Tadd Jenkins fought so hard to build is now apparently being used for something else. It is evident that part of manufacturing needs to be brought back, big time. I was there at Entegra when Tom, Ricci, was going through very much the same thing. He is one of the most patient Entegra owners I have met. I hope Entegra brings back the quality control line, but experienced people to run it may be the problem.

Hi Chuck - I am hopeful that the new building for QA prior to shipping will help alleviate some of these issues. (It appears to be for all of Jayco however and not just Entegra). We had a chat with Joyce about this and she seemed positive about it and I do trust Joyce and her word. They know they have a problem and as long as they work towards a goal I'll hang in there. Remember why after 4 Tiffin coaches we left Tiffin, they could not pull it off.

Happy Ground Hog Day! ;>)

I am not an Integra owner. You are fortunate to have a great dealer. It also seems that Integra looks after their customers. If you had a low end Thor or Forest River your story would be a lot different.

He also wouldn’t have spent somewhere in between $600-850k. So when you spend this kind of money, you have higher expectations than when you buy a Forest River or a Thor. #Justsayin

Thank you.

Thanks for asking. All three issues are minor. I will get them fixed my next trip to Entegra Service. Service thought they had the door air leak / noise fixed. It really takes a 70 mph test drive to detect it. The other two issues are minor.

NIRVC, ENTEGRA, AND SPARTAN have been GREAT at helping get my issues resolved. No push back, no delays. My list seems long but most have been minor.

I agree. NIRVC was the best place to get our motorhome from.
Not only did they let me stay for 5 days after getting my coach but they encouraged it. They encouraged me to use it, drive it, set it back up, use it, drive it, etc…. I did just that. And of course we found a couple more things that needed to be fixed. Bobby and his team checked in with us each day and took care of us.

I lost the catch from my macerator hose door and my generator started sliding out when parked on my first trip. Minor stuff but here is they key. I called NIRVC on a Friday morning and told them I was headed up from north Florida towards Michigan and asked if I could stop in on Friday afternoon and get these things looked at. They said yes and made it happen and I continued on my way Saturday morning. Not their issue but I am their customer so they took care of me.

Chuck, I have had some vendor issues. Washing Machine, Air Conditioner, Chassis Batteries, Aqua Hot Pump, etc…. What has stood out is how we have been able to get things fixed without any pushback. That is one advantage of living close to Spartan / Entegra. It was negative 2 degrees at my house yesterday morning though so I need to stay positive about something…..

Agree, Entegra is great getting issues taken care of. However in 2014 Tadd Jenkins started a Quality Control check of each coach at the building behind the now service dept. It was later built and housed in the new building across the street, it was the complete west end of the building. There they went over every working item in the coach and flagged any paint flaws with different colored tape. From your list of simple items, the QC deportment is no longer in use. The QC dept is where the 16 was introduced to the public for the first time. My 19 and 21 both had QC inspections. My list was so short on both coaches I didn't do a thing on the 21 until my AIR. For that I am thankful, it's 1350 miles for me to stop by Entegra.
