2012 Anthem step problem

anyone having this problem? the original steps on our new 2012 Anthem would hit the ground when extending and retracting if the air bags were dumped which happens when putting the jacks down. Entegra sent us a different step that does not hit the ground when extending and retracting with the air bags dumped. but the problem is that only 7 inches of the 11 inch top step is exposed. an area to small to exit the coach safely. we have already experienced slipping and stumbling when exiting the coach due to "to small of a step". a friend also stumbled due to not enough step surface exposed. the bottom step is fine, full 11 inches is available to step on, it's just the top step that is a problem.

Lp5151 we have exactly the same problem on our 2012 Anthem but we were not aware there was a replacement step available. We are going to Elkhart in July and planned to have the issue looked at. This is very useful information. They will need to come up with a solution to that and I am sure they will. What are the service people at Entegra Coach saying?

Bill2011..they have another design that extends and retracts with or without air bags inflated. it's not as pretty as the original steps, but is solid and works. don't have to pay as much attention when raising and lowering the coach or have to worry when you loose air in the bags during storage periods, get in the coach and start it, only to find the steps digging into the ground. this other design with put a stop to that.
By the way, we have the same coach.

They replaced the steps on my 2011 Anthem to correct that problem and they work fine. They do not appear to be as nice as the originals but they work and work right and that is the important part. My originals had the EC in script on the step and these are just plain old kwikee steps but they do work good. Just my experience.

PS -- now having trouble with the new steps, they do not always deploy when you open the door. Techs say the controller board will have to be replaced.

We have all 11 inches available. You can not simply change out the steps, other control module changes are required to make them work correctly. Have the shop that changed them out to contact Entegra service for help with the proper installation. I bet that will fix your issues.

I was able to stick my head under there far enough to see that the dealer didn't install the step in the correct position... looks like it's another trip back to the dealer for a re-do. Entegra has already contacted me and said "they will do whatever it takes to make it right".

Entegra knows theres a problem with the step, and is now using a different model. Maybe they'll replace it instead of paying to fix it.

lp, I LIED to you, we do NOT have the full 11 inches, had never had a problem getting in and out and it looked good UNTIL I started looking close, mine does not come all the way out either. It is something that has not bothered us but should be corrected as you point out. Have you taken yours back to the dealer and did that fix it?

after a few conversations with the dealer and Don Brubaker at Entegra, we got the correction made. we ended up with 9 1/2 inches of the 11.. which is a very comfortable step surface.. we are happy campers.
Entegra is very aware of this problem, but without specific instructions to the dealers, the dealer will probally use the factory holes the manufacturer put in the steps for install. those factory holes will leave the top step "short" in depth, the step needs a minor customization to fit properly. all is well now.
