2013 Anthem Dishwasher

Two questions:

1) what model of Fisher & Paykel dishwasher is being installed in the 2013 Anthem?

2) according to item 39 of the Entegra PDI, it appears that the dishwasher automatically unlocks itself every time the power source is changed (shore power, generator). Isn't there a way to over ride the default locking mechanism so that the dishwasher stays locked at all times?

I was told when I toured the factory a couple weeks ago that they have changed to a new brand of DW due to locking issues. I didn't get the new brand, but the new version is Stainless front instead of a wood panel.

Dishwasher

On the F/P dishwasher, there is a procedure to lock the door and you cannot open it no matter how many times you change power, unless you push the button to unlock it. This is the way my dishwasher is set up in my present coach and if my new 2013 Anthem has a F/P, it will be set up the same way. The procedure is somewhere around page 24 or 25 of the F/P manual. Thanks, Noel. I googled an owners manual. They call it the "closed drawer option" - this will be one of the first things I set when our coach is delivered.

Do not think they are using the F-P drawer any more. Guess too many people had problems with keeping them locked. Hope the new one has a method to lock it once and forget it until you are ready to unlock it again. F-P took a little getting used to and if you are hard of hearing, like me, I have to get down on one knee to hear the 3 beeps signaling it is locked but it works great. All just my opinion.

Bob, that is the MOST EXPENSIVE dishwasher to change. You could pay for a couple of new Entegras for what it costs to change the two legged dishwasher.

It's a stainless model f&p. The new one the distributor was giving them for the wood front didn't have a locking mechanism, so they went to the stainless version. IMO, it doesn't clean as well as the old one. Rumor is f&p has gone back to the old version to try and get Entegras business back, but as of last Friday, still the stainless one.

We have a F&P DishDrawer in our 2005 Newmar, and for years went through the hassle of changing the "closed drawer option": when we're parked for any length of time, we wanted it off... but when "on the road" we wanted it on. No matter how many times I did it, I ALWAYS had to open the manual to remember the exact sequence of key pushes, etc.

Then, just earlier this year, I read about an easier way: push and hold the "Lock" button (on mine, it's the right-most of the three buttons on the front) for about 5 seconds until the top closes down and locks the drawer closed. Then, I just go to the circuit breaker box and turn off the circuit breaker for the dishwasher. VOILA! Drawer stays locked until power is turned back on and it unlocks.

Rinse and repeat (no pun intended) to lock/re-lock when needed.

I find this technique to be much easier to remember than the other. Of course, your mileage may vary! ;D

Thumbs up

Once again, if you use the simple procedure in the F/P manual, all you have to do before you get on the road is make sure the door is shut. Ours has never come open because it is locked. Just our thoughts. Noel & Lois
