2013 Aspire tanks compartment hose

Hope you are all doing excellent. While I was cleaning my coach I decided to unscrew and open the compartment where the Black/Grey and Fresh tanks reside. I found that there is this thick transparent hose that goes to the bottom of the coach and will drain outside, however on the opposite side is just resting on top of the fresh water tank with no connection and a screw across..... Anybody can help me understand what this is and if it should be connected somewhere?

Thanks

Abe, I will look at mine this weekend, but don't remember that hose being in my water tank compartment. I'll check it out

Abe, I have a 2014 Aspire. No clear hose in my water tank compartment as you have. Owner Mod maybe?
FYI, in the Mods section, I followed others and put in gas struts and closures to utilize this area for storage.

Abe - I did not get down to the coach over the weekend. I did find an image of the same compartment, and see a large clear hose similar to yours, but don't have another image showing what it's purpose is. I will let you know.

Just a guess but could it be a hose to introduce RV antifreeze into the water system for winterization. I seem to recall reading something like that in one of my owners manuals.

Thanks! Good point, however the winterization procedure is done on the actual wet bay with a much less thicker hose….

Abe - see attached images. Appears that hose on my unit is attached to the drain pan that the washing machine is sitting it, and the other end goes through the floor next to the tank - safety drain in case the washing machine leaks. (the 2nd image is looking up at the top of that compartment)

I will put a shelf across the top of the tank before I go to Colorado at the end of July and use this space to hold my fluids I carry for safety like Final Charge, Hydraulic fluid, oil for engine and gen set, etc. in a crate. I want to find a way to latch the bottom so I don't have to remove the 2 screws to open.

I bought all the hinges and latch to change the door to open like the rest, but never made the change - too afraid to cut the latch into the door.

2013 Aspire tanks compartment hose

This is what I built in my water tank compartment. I built it so it can be removed in less than 5 minutes if need be. Mine is a classic 2013 Anthem

The battery compartment that was behind the drivers side front wheel is now home to all my fluids. I moved the house batteries back to the mid section of the coach and went to 4 300 amp hour LiFeBlue lithium batteries

This change reduced the weight on the front axle and gave me lots of extra room

Nice Job. I will probably just build a platform or shelf just above the tank and move the water lines some to open it up. Since our "door" is hinged at the top, and only opens to about parallel to the ground, it is a good spot for things that you need to have, but not accessed that often. 2 self taping screws secure it shut, so I may fine an easier way to latch on the bottom?

I used wire bail latches on the door when I modified the bay for storage.
Got 'em from Amazon....there are several names for them and many styles. They self lock and are a one hand operation. I store rarely used stuff in the bay so this works for infrequent access.
