2014 Anthem Radiator Replacement

Same ole raditor leak. Started around 50k miles. Have 64k miles on coach now. Ordered the new radiator kit from Spartan and working on it today.

Noticing some issues:

1. Unlike the write ups I am seeing / following, seems I have transmission cooler mounted in front of / on top of radiator that needs to be removed before removing radiator. Was this something year-specific or am I just missing something in some of the write ups I was reviewing or on wrong track? ** Actually learning I think this is actually charge air cooler, not transmission cooler and am seeing references to this being orignally replaced as part of package of cooling system but seems Spartan stopped doing that and need to re-use existing .. Thinking still needs to be removed first to remove radiator.. **

2. All the thin sheet metal covering screws, bolts, needed to remove trans cooler and / or radiator .... after removing the sheet metal screws, I am finding all the sheet metal is glued down and needing to pry off? Is this factory or some prior repair or attempt to minimize rattling? Seems like a dangerous pain in the read prying next to the transmission cooler ?

Thanks for any advice. Looking to see a write up outlining removal of the transmission cooler with radiator relacement but am not finding one. Still looking.

Adam

Adam,

When I did mine several years ago on a 2014 Anthem the CAC (not transmission cooler) on top of the radiator was never removed. I can’t see why you would need to remove it. I found the best method was to remove the radiator out the bottom once everything was unbolted.

The Charge Air Cooler (Intercooler) is typically the first cooler in the stack. The “glue” you are referring to under the sheetmetal is probably a from of RTV (like silicone) which is generally there just to seal the gaps to direct as much airflow as possible thru the coolers themselves. You should be able to work it loose with a putty knife or similar.
