2014 Aspire docking lights (bulbs): can't find same ones as OEM!

Hi,

Both docking lights on the driver side are burnt. They are model 893 bulbs.

My problem is: the OEM bulbs are all clear glass, but all the replacements I could find have some kind of coating on the tip of the bulb (either blue, gray, brown) and when I put them in the docking light housing, the light output is horrible. So much it renders the lamp pretty much useless.

I tried calling the nearest dealer and all their 893 bulbs have the coating on top, like this:

I tried calling Entegra and the guy gave me a part number to look up with the dealer and well, it's for the whole docking light assembly (over 100$.) The bulb alone is not listed.

Being in the automotive/trucking industry, I know my way around getting parts and stuff, but this time I'm clueless. I went to several auto parts stores, called Entegra/dealer, went online, and I never was able to find all-clear 893 bulbs.

I've found 894 bulbs, which are the same as far as the socket and wattage/output goes, but the connector is angled (90*) and that will not work with the docking light assy.

The only solution I'm left with now is going with HIDs, which will most likely give me strong light output with less heat, which is all for the best.

But I'm still wondering if any of you guys had to replace these bulbs and what did you do ?

Thank you!!

Yes it crossed my mind, but my experience with LEDs in this kind of application keeps me from wasting my time and money.

The way the lamp housing is made, a LED bulb would most likely not give out proper output, unless I was gonna use some high quality CREE LEDs that will cost more than the HIDs and would probably end up being less effective.

Thank you for the suggestion though!

Try 1000 bulbs. It's worth a phone call http://www.1000bulbs.com/search/?q=8...rchButton.y=11
