2014 Aspire - Generator

Question on my gen. When starting it has started to barely turn over when trying to start if the engine is not running. When engine is running the gen starts very easily and quickly. Is the gen powered from the house batteries for starting on the chassis batteries ? Trying to figure out if this is a battery problem or something else.

It sounds like a low house battery. One way to check, is to turn off the battery disconnect and see if the generator can still be started.

How old are your house batteries? (4) If original, they are probably shot.

House batteries are just now 2 years old. But that was what I was thinking that the house batteries are going bad

most likely house batteries. the disconnect switch may not affect the generator and many of them are directly wired to the batteries. a better way to determine their status is to use a multimeter to measure their voltage. are they getting recharged?

Check that the battery connects are clean. Hopefully it is the simple fix.

Your generator starts from the house batteries.

What kind of batteries are they? If flooded, can try to equalize once charged - hopefully you can connect to 50 amp service for this. I put the Sam's Flooded Duracell in mine and try to equalize every 2-3 months - seems to help.

If not flooded, if you can post your settings for your batteries from the EC30, Don can give your the best settings for the batteries (either flooded or AGM, etc)

At 2 years old the batteries should not be failing that quick unless they were somewhat abused. Remove and clean all battery connections and check the ground connection on the back wall behind the batteries for a clean solid connection.
