2015 Cornerstone Smart Wheel lighting
My first time night driving and noticed that I have no back lighting on the smart wheel. Does anyone know it is supposed to be there. I looked at the smart wheel site and varified that it is a model v44, but could not find any lighting specs

My 2014 Anthem smart wheel is back lit so I assume your Cornerstone should be. Noel

Thanks. It is a smartwheel v44. I found the documentation on it and it says to check for 5 volts on p2.4 in the controller. Now, does anyone know where the controller module is. I am looking under the front cap and so far no luck. Not in the front electrical cabinet either.

I have not looked, but is there a smart wheel fuse in the driver side outside fuse compartment? Curiosity got me and I checked my smart wheel and it too is back lit. Are the other functions of the smart wheel working?

On my 2014 Anthem, the controller is a Spartan Control Module not a VIP control module. Not sure if yours is the same. Its located front of the DS electrical bay under the front cap. Its is aluminum with cooling fins and has two large electrical plugs held in with Allen head bolts on the bottom of the control module.
You will need to call Spartan to help with diagnosis, as the VIP documentation won't help.

It could just be a loose connection at either end. The SmartWheel communicates to the controller via a 4 conductor wire that runs through a clockspring in the wheel. Two conductors are used to send codes to the controller for the various switches while the other two are used to provide DC power from the dash lights circuit to the backlit keypads on the SmartWheel. It could be a failure to supply 12 volt dash lighting power to the controller or in the connection from the controller to the wheel. I would first look for loose connectors, then contact Spartan for info on which connections to look for 12 volts on.

You might want to make sure your dimmer setting (by the headlight and driving light switches) isn't set too low to show lights on the wheel controls. You can take the dimmer down all the way down, which on our coach causes the smart wheel buttons to go out but the dash still has some lighting.

Tom
Drove at night for the first time last night and no back lighting on the smart wheel in my 2015 Anthem also.
Where are the connectors for the wheel that you discovered the loose connection. Please describe connectors and locations more fully.
Thanks in advance....
Gary

Gary, They were under the center of the steering wheel. I checked the Spartan manuals that I downloaded and they said to pry evenly on the center of the wheel and it pulls right off. I did and there were 2 plugs for the smart wheel. I just unplugged them and plugged them back in and everything is working ok. Hope this helps
