2016 Entegra Aspire 42 RBQ - New Shower Install

The time has come!

After only a few months of ownership, the shower has to go! I can't fathom why Entegra chose this shower? It literally has no room to shower with the molded in seat. My feet practically span from front to back, and at 6'2", my head is in the skylight because this shower is 7"+ off the ground.

For those that want to know how you fix this, follow along.

1. Jack up the RV and remove the tag tire
2. Remove access plate for shower plumbing and disconnect the drain from the shower
3. Remove shower doors, door frame, shower wand, water inlet, shower valve
4. Remove 50 screws holding shower trim around sides and top portion
5. Slide base out
6. Realize the shower base was installed prior to anything in the rig... Use saw all and cut into pieces
7. 2 hrs later after I started I was here taking measurements

More pics...

We're working with the following -

1. 77 1/4" overall height
2. 40" overall width (have to watch your engine hatch restriction)
3. The Aspire has two floors...2x6 joist plus 2x4 underneath all available for plumbing - Total depth 9.5" or so
4. I decided on squeezing in a 38" round pan. Originally was going with the 36", but the 38" is available and it looks like it will fit!

The 38" pan sits on the floor, so the threshold is only about 2.5"! Better than 7-9"!

Parts are ordered. I will do some plumbing rerouting on the original drain to vent stack and get rid of it. I will be tying into the sink drain which is currently not seen under the floor. They join up in the corner currently.

I'm pointing to the wall where the sink drain comes by. Then I dropped the camera down and took a picture. The other picture shows where the shower and sink drain and stack all join up in the corner.

Edit - I'll also be cutting an access panel for the shower valve in the master bed. It doesn't exist because I think Entegra forgot to cut the hole for it.

I had to wrangle him up to come help. Once he's using the power tools he says this isn't so bad lol.

In another thread I posted, some weren't fully understanding my reasoning for the tear out.

Look at the first couple pics and you will see the molded in seat took up half the shower pan. I had trouble moving around once inside. I also didn't like the huge step up into the shower. I know at 6'2" it was insanely tight for me.
When my 7 year old complains he was tight, there's definitely a problem. Hopefully this reno will address those issues.

Any time you can get management working is a good day. No doubt this will be a great experience for him.
Looking forward to your progress. This is impressive and ambitious.

Oh oh !!!!
Dangerous territory here!.....I don't know how long I can resist telling my wife about this. Maybe I'd better just add it to the bottom of my "yet to happen mod list" ....

Love the pics,
Keep em coming!

Update for 1/16/22 -

2016 Entegra Aspire 42 RBQ

Shower install continued -

The carrier shows the shower is around the corner and almost ready for delivery. I decided while I wait a few more days I would remove the old drain and reconnect the vent. Then I would remove the floor, mock the plumbing up, then add additional floor bracing.

I cut the vent and removed the old drain. I called 3-4 plumbing supply houses plus check Home Depot and Lowes and none of them carry much in the way of ABS pipe and fittings any longer. I used ABS to PVC transition cement to connect the two dissimilar pipes. It's green for reference. In the pics you can see the reamer I used to ream out and reuse that one fitting. It's called a 'socket saver' for reference.

After removing the floor I mocked the plumbing. 90 deg wye plus a p-trap to a 1 1/2" to 2" reducer will allow me to hook it up to the shower.

I then reworked the bracing and moved the clear hose (for my Toto toilet - man is that a badass experience! &#129315. You can also see the ledger board now screwed to the wall. In my opinion Entegra really cheapened out on floor bracing. They used these 6" braces randomly installed to raise the floor up. The shower needs much more consistent bracing to keep the floor from flexing. That is now fixed.

Onto the pics!

Just a suggestion since you are at the plumbing state. The Water Miser installed in the new coach showers are awesome for conserving water and not filling up the gray tank. I really like that feature on my 21, well worth installing.
Your project looks great!
