Boy that's a crappy design for enclosing the motor!! I have no idea how I'm going to get in there and I'm kinda skinny. Even if I was able to block off the chassis it still looks a little scary.
Now I see two boxes. One that looks like its directly over the drive wheels and the other is kind behind the drive wheels. My assumption is that the box over the drive wheels is the one with the motor? And the other box must have the gears for that arm for the slide?

The motor is in the box that is over/forward of the drive wheels.

There is a cover held on with, 5/16 th I think, screws. Not such a big deal if you jack up the right rear maximally, have a small head, and good light.

Paul, If I may make a suggestion. If the motor is still working, the tip about sealing of the sheet metal covering the motor with Eternabond tape is spot on. There is no way water can get to the motor if the entry is seal with Enternabond.

There was a post not long ago showing 3 bolts to take off the wheel skirt. Lot easier to get to the panel.

Mike, I think a good smack would have done the trick. If this ever occurs again, I'll try that first!

Paul, let me know if you want any suggestions on how to get in and out of the wheel well. First suggestion is something to protect your nipples. Yes, it's that tight!

Hi Steve - I'll take any advice you have! I'd like to fix this before we move next month and avoid any issues with this motor down the road.
I also like the idea of putting eterna bond tape to seal off the box, but you really need to get in there. I noticed that the worst box is the one that most likely has the gear in it, not the motor. This one will also get repaired.

I understand this motor problem only occurs on two models. Don't know which two, but you might want to contact Cs before getting too involved.

Either way I think I'd rather be safe than sorry. On the motor box I see some gaps that I'd like to seal. Don't plan on taking the box apart just seal it. As for the box that houses the gear, this one is just about falling off and pretty wide open. So this one will get most of the attention. Since we full time it's a little difficult to work on things, but since I'm in a campground that allows some work I'd rather get it done here....so I appreciate any suggestions on getting this done.
