2017 Aspire Tecma toilet dilemma

I have recently learned after I use the 3” slinky hose to drain the tanks the red light on the toilet flush switch will light up when the black tank gets between 60 and say, around 80 percent full. This went on for months as we were staying for long stints in the winter.
CS advised me that it was likely the tank sensor was loose. I couldn’t find the thing and was just coping with pushing the buttons longer to make it flush.
THEN,,,,
Now that our stops are shorter I switched back to the macerator. Now the red light on the flush push button control stays green to about 95 percent, just like it did when it was brand new.
All that is wonderful, can anybody tell me why? It makes no sense to me, empty is empty.
Yes this is trivial. Lucky to have such minor problem. I just need to know why.
Sure like this coach. Is has been just great for us.
Thanks in advance!

Try filling your black tank with water and drain that should clean the tank sides so your sensors can read clearly

We've dumped our black tank nearly twice a week since June of last year using only the 3" and never had a problem with Tecma. Just wished we had a bigger tank!

The sensors for the Techma are located between the black and gray tanks and can be reached from the wet bay side. They are two approx 1.5" square sensor units stuck to the side of the plastic tank, one near the top of the tank and the other about halfway down.

Mine are acting up also, I get the red light when the tank is empty, turns green or yellow at about 10% then is either red or yellow intermittently after that. The See Level tank sensors work fine. I have flushed the tanks repeatedly but to no avail.

I had the same issue with one of my Tecmas. I found that disconnecting or jumpering the wires to the sensor don't help because the newest style communicated digitally to the controller and needs to be there. My solution was to remove the sensor and use a nylon cable tie to tie it to a wiring bundle so that it was "looking at air". Now the red light doesn't come on and I can flush as normal. I check the tanks all the time with my SeeLevel display so really don't need a red LED warning on the toilet's control panel.

To remove the sensor you have to carefully insert a putty knife between the sensor and tank and pry it off. It is stuck on there pretty good so it will take some pressure to remove it but it doesn't penetrate the tank so all is good once it's off.

Cruzer's solution worked for me. Sudden unexplained red lights on my Tecma toilets. I had a local dealer remove the sensor for me worked great after they pulled the correct sensor on their 2nd try.

Our Tecma seems to be working OK. The LED turns orange at 50% and red at 90%. admittedly the color differential is slight but it does change and is working. I think its cool!

Mine worked fine too, until it didn't. All you need to do is be aware of the potential for a problem and remember where you saw the solution.

Safe & Happy Travels.
