2017 Cornerstone PDI, Ride Home & 4 Corner Weights
Did the PDI on our new Conerstone Monday and brought it home from NIRV Dallas to Houston today.Thought I would share some first impressions and 4 corner weights after the coach was loaded.
NIRV lived up to their reputation. Without a doubt the best dealership of any kind I have dealt with. These guys are world class and they had the best no hassle price of the 4 dealers I shopped.
Entegra hit a home run with the Blind Side Monitoring, Anti Collision/Adaptive Cruise and Total Vision camera system. The cab sound system in the 17 vs 15 is a huge improvement also. I have heard the pros and cons on the Passive Steer Tag but on this short trip with some city driving I liked it. Maybe you can do the same thing by dumping the tag but I never did that when I was driving around town in traffic.
I don't know what Entegra did to the L Sofa in the B floor plan but it's actually comfortable now. I dozed off while tucked in the corner last night. The leather feels much better also.
Sure nuff……….. the one thing you don't check during the PDI will be broken. Tried to kill the 12 volt power when I got to the garage and the neither switch will shut it off.
Here are the 4 corner weights with full fuel, DEF, 70% water, 20% black and grey and almost all of our stuff. It was nice to be able to get this done at delivery. Just part of NIRV's "We Do It All" approach.
PS Front 8,920/DS Front 8,020/Total Front 16,940
PS Drive 8,780/DS Drive 9,820/Total Drive 18,600
PS Tag 5,300/DS Tag 5,900/Total Tag 11,200
Total Coach 46,740
We have got a 2300 mile trip coming up in June and we will see how it does with a proper shake down.

Congrats on your new coach, I have a couple of questions about the new systems. It is my understanding that the adaptive cruise is not adjustable and is preset to 3.6 seconds between the vehicle in front. I understand that at 60 mph the spacing is about 300 feet and that will increase as speed increases. Is that to much distance or did you find it ok? And my last question is will the blind spot indicator work to the rear of the toad?

Does anyone else remember the Shell Answer man and the 2 second rule for passenger vehicles?
My father got me all the Shell booklets since that was right when I was getting my driver's license.
I still use that today with our cars. I also vaguely recall some motorhome articles around 2000, 2001 that talked about using 5 seconds on large RVs due to stopping distance.

I've used the 2sec rule forever. Larger vehicles need to add to that for stopping distance. Now, the issue comes in when you increase your distance to feel safe and some nitwit jumps in-between.

It is not adjustable. I was following a truck going from Dallas to Ft Worth on I-20 doing 64 and 300' sounds about right. That is very busy stretch of Interstate and cars were constantly cutting lanes between me and the truck but as long as they were going faster than 64 the system didn't react. If they got between us and slowed down the system had a new "target" to track and would slow accordingly. As soon as they got out of my lane the system would return to set speed. Surprisingly I followed the same truck down that busy stretch of road for about 10 miles without turning the cruise off with cars constantly cutting in and out of our lane. On I-35 from Ft Worth to Waco I tracked another truck doing 66 for 50 miles or so before a trash truck got between us and I had to take over and pass him. It's a tool and my first impression was if you let work it will take a lot of stress out of driving. I thought it would be a pain in heavy traffic but I didn't find that to be the case. Here's a link to the Meritor Wabco website that explains in detail how it works.
OnGuard™ Collision Mitigation System
The blind spot monitoring does not cover the toad. You still have to work the mirrors but it does a great job covering that bad spot from just behind the drivers seat and a quick glance at the warning lights will let you know if your clear the length of the coach.

Along with everything else you are going to buy, budget for a good dash cam and use it all the time.

I had my Garmin 20 mounted before I left. Now just need to find a hot ignition wire under the dash to tie into.
I was getting a little long winded in my first post but wanted to compliment NIRV again on having the coach in outstanding condition and their delivery process. For those of us in Texas I wish NIRV could sell Entegra's out of Lewisville but they made the process of closing in Atlanta, having their guy drive the coach to Texas and doing another complete PDI in Texas made it painless. It also gave them and me two chances to do two inspections and I think that contributed to the problem free "final delivery" in Lewisville.
Thanks again to Angie, Brett, Chris & Juan for a great buying experience!

Am I missing something here? over16,900# on the front axle? Where I come from the legal limit on a steer axle is 12,000#-12,500#. Do MH have a special weight limit? The rest of the weights look to be what I would consider legal. Some heavy-haul trucks have 20,000# axles/tires for permit loads. Just showing my ignorance about modern coaches.

Single axles can be 20,000# Most large tag axle coaches are using 20K front, 20K drive and 14K tag. Nothing special going on. Same rules for large trucks.
Good information at http://ops.fhwa.dot.gov/freight/sw/f...cfm?category=9

20,000 lbs on the steer axle is very common. I don't know where "here" is but 12,500 lbs max is not a valid number in any state I have lived.
