Hope you did a really good job cleaning out the tanks the last time! We had the dealer install the quick connect back in the hose compartment. Now it stays connected. Much better!
That's why they went back to the 2017 style.

Our 2017 Insignia has the 2018 under the wet bay hook up. On our PDI when the tech opened the cam locks the plug flew out with gallons of water. He was fortunate that it was clean water used only for the demonstration. This made me very wary of using the new set up so for a month I used only the stinky slinky. Checking out the plumbing all that month I noticed the slide valve on the 1 1/4 pipe exiting the macerator going to the exit pipe. I was afraid that if I opened the cam lock I would get a bath in very stinky water or having had a month without being opened it would be totally plugged with dried up fecal matter. The small slide valve had been open since PDI! Feeling brave, released one cam lever and standing well to the side released the other-nothing came out so pulled the plug and still nothing. Slowly bent down to look in the pipe and found it clean and dry??? Decided to try the macerator next time I dumped. Made sure the slide valves on the macerator were closed, hooked up the hose opened the valve to the small hose and dumped. Worked marvelously so I made sure the hose was clean and empty, disconnected it and put it away and put the plug back in the pipe. Next time and every time since it has worked flawlessly. I see no need to change.

Yup, IMHO, but the only advantage to a macerator, besides pumping up hill which I amost never do, is that the hose stays attached and is relatively tidy to dump. Having to connect a hose each time is silly. Your picture is exactly how mine was redesigned!

Can't happen and you don't want it!

If you want the sanicon for those seldom times when you want to pump uphill, there is one available that you just add to the slinky fitting.

Gary, FYI the Thetford macerator is not a positive displacement style pump, therefore it doesn't push uphill well. The upside to this style pump, is it's pretty hard to overheat and burn it out. Recently, we were at a site with a slight uphill slope and couldn't drain.

You mentioned another macerator that connects to the 3" outlet. There are quite a few on the market. The one we use is a water jet macerator that attaches to the 3" outlet. It works really well and will push waste a significant distance, and up a significant slope. The original version was evidently purchased by Valterra and is now marketed as a Valterra SewerSolution.

We use the Thetford macerator with a custom section of PVC modified to exit below the wet bay floor immediately after the 1 1/2" gate valve after the macerator. We go directly to a 5/8" hose and to the drain. This system works quite well. We keep the SewerSolution as our backup. And we have an unused section of slinky as a backup to the backup.

We've not had to use either backup since I modified the plumbing.

While it isn't any less hassle than a slinky, the equipment is much smaller making for easier and cleaner storage. Exiting downhill permits gravity draining of the Grey tank without supervision.

I hope this helps,

-Matt

No longer have the 2013. But did pump uphill. Sani Con was type that just mounted to the 3 1/2" outlet. Just twist on.

I am amazed that nearly 3 years later, Entegra is still battling this Macerator Nightmare. When it was introduced in 2016, I told Entegra Engineers that it was a mistake. I hate it when I am always right.

I have a 2015 Cornerstone and it came equipped with the Thedford slinky system that was sub par. It leaked and only allowed you to reach about 9 ft. from the coach without an extension hose being added.

However, the little secret was, Entegra had originally designed the CS to be fitted with the 28' Drain Master system in place of the Thedford. The entire hose would fit in the side of the coach with no connecting and disconnecting required. Simply pull it out and drop it on the sewer pipe.
To save a few bucks, Entegra went cheaper route. They would have been better off installing the Drain Master on ALL the coaches.

I replaced the Thedford with the Drain Master and am delighted with the results. I can hook up to a drainpipe nearly 20' from the side of the coach in less than a minute. It takes less than 3 minutes to put the entire system away. Oh, and by the way, Gravity ALWAYS works. Yes, I know, I cannot pump uphill, however, I have yet to face that issue in over 3 years of traveling. The system is pretty much bulletproof.

I was a boater for 30 years and I can say from experience - fixing a macerator is a s----y Job!! I don't care who makes it or how it is installed, It will eventually fail - sometimes in most unpleasant ways.

Count me as one of those who is grateful to have a "classic" Entegra. I do like some of the new "whiz bang" features on the new coaches - but not ALL of them.

I have a Drain Master also, and I leave it hooked up. Love the camlock fittings.

Cripps, I agree and there is no question that you classic guys are the lucky ones in the dump wars!

2018 Macerator

Just to put my two cents worth.
Modified my 2016 Anthem 44b. Pix attached.
1.Cut and inserted 90 deg elbow and dropped through wet bay floor
2. 90 deg elbow to bring pipe out to edge of coach.
3. attached cam male fitting and them female cam lock onto clear 1 1/2 inch hose to check that tank is running clear water and them to discharge hose.

Results...easy connect/disconnect and gravity feed for grey water when at site. Very pleased with results.

Whole project took about 1 hour after accumulating materials.
Old compartment is now used for storage of second hose for extension if needed.
