We visited both Entegra and Newmar this summer. Both tours were very worthwhile. I prefer a 40' coach as well and was disappointed that Entegra did not offer these floorplans on the Anthem line. The basement storage is very limited on the Aspire 40' floorplans and have since decided that Newmar was a better fit, although I do like the Entegra models.

I still work too, although DW is retired. That lack of use was a concern with us also. I found that by taking a number of shorter vacation periods, we can do a greater number of trips. Arizona isn't far, nor is central California. Take a Friday and a Monday, and go to Paso Robles, where there are some nice resorts, and go wine tasting. Borrego Springs is nice during cooler months.
Find a holiday weekend, and those 2 vacation days added to it gives time for a 5 day trip. We're west of LA, in Ventura County, so we have to spend the first 3 hours of many trips just crossing the metro area. I sometimes leave on, say, Friday night, and drive just across the city, staying at the Morongo Casino where camping is free and meals are inexpensive. That makes the Saturday drive shorter.

That’s great advice, thank you! Funny you mention Morongo... we are about an hour from there (Murrieta) and that was a place I was thinking of using as an “exercise” day destination for the coach if we aren’t going somewhere for a month or so. Free camping, In-n-Out Burger and inexpensive hotel food could make it an overnight trip!
Thanks again!

Grrr. It was the cops that got in the stink for doing that. We firemen just try to show up in big groups. :-)

Yeah, if the firemen did it, I might could get him to save me a space!

Keep in mind there is a good compromise between 40 and 45. My 42DEQ actually has more living room area up front than a 44B because it does not waste space with the half bath. Not much longer than a 40.

I remember those days. We always looked at it as one of the perks for doing the job they did.

Finding weekend spaces anywhere is becoming a bigger challenge. The 40’ length restriction is not your biggest problem. I’ve put my 45 in quite a few ro’ Max spaces. The “weekenders” make their reservations months in advance. We don’t plan much more than a week ahead as our plans are not usually fixed and we sort of wander as we see fit, and we see RV park after RV park which is poorly populated by itinerants Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and then are absolutely packed Friday and Saturday. Then throw in the growing group of the new “underclass” who don’t “camp” in their trailers but rather “live” full time in their trailers as a cheap way to exist (a mobil home would be a luxury abode), and finding great places to spend a few days in your coach.
