2019 Cornerstone refrigerator smaller?

I have just seen several pictures of the inside of the 45B coach and it appears that there is a wood panel/spacer between the Whirlpool refrigerator and the aft end of that slide that was not present in our Anthem..... that suggests to me that the physical size of the Whirlpool refer is narrower/smaller than the Samsung. Does anyone know if the Whirlpool refer is actually less capacity (cu ft.) than the old Samsung!

Gary

We have a ‘16 Anthem 45B with the Samsung refer and we have about a 6” spacer panel there.

Haven’t looked at the cubic ft numbers but the whirlpool seems smaller than the Samsung. I really liked the Samsung - not particularly impressed with the whirlpool so far.

The Whirlpool looked smaller at Perry but they had them wired tied shut so we couldn't inspect them.

Our Samsung had a problem and they put in a Whirlpool. The Whirlpool is definitely smaller and DW isn't overly impressed with it.

Sitting at NIRVC and toured an Essex and a Mountain Aire, fridge was a Whirlpool in both and it was definitely smaller than the Samsung. It kinda look like a mini fridge compared to the Samsung. I chuckled at it but the Wife wasn’t too happy about the fridge. On the other hand, the basement freezer was bigger in the Essex.....

2019 Cornerstone refrigerator smaller?

It’s just like our Kitchenaid in our S&B, I think it is 20 cu ft (can’t find the label on the coach fridge). DW isn’t happy with the size of the fridge in the house (designer chose it during remodel) but loves it in the coach. It’s much larger than the GE side-by-side we had in our ‘14 Anthem (ours was prior to the Samsung change).

Hi Gary,

You should take this for what it's worth, because I really don't know. How's that for a disclaimer, right up front.

We had a residential refrigerator installed in our prior coach (2009 Monaco Diplomat). We chose what seemed to be a very common RV refrigerator, a Samsung RF18. The RF18 was the current model of what had previously been sold as the RF197. Both of those are advertised as 18 cu.ft. with an ice maker in the freezer compartment and no in-door water or ice dispenser.

Our '18 Anthem came with a Whirlpool refrigerator. The entegracoach.com website gives no specifics on the particular model of Whirlpool refrigerator installed in the '19 Cornerstone. It only states that it's a Whirlpool with ice maker and water dispenser, the same description given for my '18 Anthem. So, one might presume (with the attendant possibility to be completely WRONG) that it's the same as is installed in my '18 Anthem. IF it is, then it's a Whirlpool WRF550CDHZ. That's advertised as 19.7 cu.ft.

However, and here's a big difference, the Whirlpool ice maker and in-door water and ice dispenser take up significant volume in the refrigerator compartment. Lots more useable room in the old 18 cu.ft. Samsung refrigerator compartment than our current 19.7 cu.ft. Whirlpool.

BTW, the ice dispenser seems to have a propensity to spit ice cubes onto the floor as you're withdrawing a glass from the dispenser. That could just be "operator error".

Again, I've got no direct knowledge of exactly what model (size) is installed in the '19 Cornerstone.

Take care,
Stu

Stu

Appreciate your disclaimer (no real data) but your specific hunch is probably right. and lack of complete knowledge has not stopped most of us about commenting on IRV2, . so I appreciate the specific guesses as well as the data from others. I also had the same Samsung you got installed in my 2001 Dynasty. Loved it and it worked very well. The Samsung in our ‘15 Anthem worked flawlessly for us and was a pleasure to have in the bus. My wife does a lot of cooking so our refrigerator is usually well stocked and I will not be overly pleased if the volume of the refrigerator is reduced. I will have to check my picture files of the 15 Anthem closely but I don’t believe there was any spacer between the frig and the aft wall of the slide so that 6” spacer in the ‘19 rig sure looks like the refer must be smaller.... just gonna have to drive somewhere to see what my new coach is really equipped with. Not sure I will ever buy a brand new coach sight unseen again .... I don’t like surprises.

Gary
